    Location: 36km NE of city of Airdrie Alberta / 59 km NE of Calgary, Alberta

    - Private acreage located in the Alberta Prairies near the badlands and mountains within 1.5 hour drive
    -rental car available on site
    -independence required not a suitable placement for teenagers and first time travelers
    -must be a competent rider and have experience outside of lesson riding programs
    -workaways required to have drivers license

    -the hosts are working professionals wanting to support travelers keen in horses or acreage lifestyle, building projects, rest and relaxation, and gaining experience helping around a private acreage with dogs horses and chickens.

    Some of the expected tasks include:
    -housesitting while hosts are away, workaways must be comfortable being alone on the acreage
    -feeding horses 2-3 time per day / filling waters / cleaning barn stalls feed and tack rooms
    -riding and working horses. Riding / regular horse grooming / need to have your own helmet and riding boots
    -hours of work can be flexible given the jobs available
    -cleaning and preparing stalls
    -watering horse arena / moving and painting horse jumps
    -bringing horses inside barn for farrier and riding and during winter
    -small projects around the acreage landscaping / painting / organizing / clearing fallen branches / building / gardening
    -household and barn cleaning tasks - cleaning specific to the animals
    -care of two large and two small dogs
    -additional odd jobs may come up as needed (pending the seasons)

    - private basement suite in main house (2 rooms) , with kitchen and private bathroom / shared and laundry

    -share main kitchen of house, laundry room

    - office space available in the barn loft

    Food
    - light breakfast and dinner meals included with seasonal fruits and vegetables

    Please note /snacks / lunches / special dietary items are not included / workaways are responsible for preparing most of their own meals
    - some dinners prepared by host
    -alcohol and specialized drinks and food are not included

    -given the acreage is outside the city limits have a Canadian Driver's license and ability to hire a car would be helpful
    -Car available for hire on site
    - days off are typically Thursday and Fridays
    -homeowners are private / like their own space weekdays and also enjoy socializing and entertaining
    -animal knowledge, especially with horses is a must (we are not a training or teaching facility) and experience with large dog breeds
    -non smoking and clean home environment

    Lot's to do on time off - visit the mountains near three national parks, Waterton, Banff, and Jasper / explore the two major cities of Alberta Calgary and Edmonton/ take in an NHL hockey game/ and visit the Badlands/ golf course 5 min up the road / can also enjoy time off on the property
