    Description

At present we still have availability if you come with your own van. If we need to provide accommodation you can apply for the second half of August and for September. Please read what is written on our profile before applying.
    ————
You are very welcome to come and join us in our daily work at our Farm Camping in rural Slovakia. You can either come alone or bring a friend. We have a small scale farm with dairy goats and sheep, horses, pigs and chickens. Oh and a lot of happy guests from May to September enjoying a farm style holiday. We eat vegetarian but we are open for vegans as well. We hope you like to WORKaway and yes like cooking as well.

We live with the seasons, in nature and with nature. In the months of April and May you will participate in whatever construction and maintenance work we have at that moment, vegetable gardening, garden maintenance. From June - September our main activity is our campsite. As the temperature rise and visitor numbers increase work on most special projects is put on hold. This is the best time to visit us if you are seeking cultural exchange and like to have communal diners. We enjoy the company of visitors countries across the globe. There is still work that needs doing in the gardens and grounds as well as essential maintenance but largely the day is spent creating a sense of community and doing your fair share of cleaning, cooking, or whatever needs to be done to maintain a welcoming environment for our guests. From September we start preparing for winter, cleaning stables, cutting wood and all building and maintenance projects we did not manage to finish before the start of the camping season.

We have had workawayers for many years, we like honest and clear arrangements. So write us and we can discuss on forehand if you want to join and help preparing the communal meals, have transport on days off, to be collected and brought back etc. You will get adequate accommodation. You will get the chance to receive hands-on experience of subsistence farming, country living, tourist management & a sustainable sound lifestyle. If what we do interests you, we will be very happy to help you learn.

Don't apply when you are looking for a payed job, since workaway is about something else (and Slovak minimum wage is below what you need for food and housing). For a job you need the right skills and you arrange accommodation, food, work permit and transport yourself. We can't help with visas either.

For shorter stays (less than two months) you will get accommodation, transport and three hearty meals a day. If you stay longer we are open for other arrangements.

The typical Workawayer work load at our place is 20 - 25 hours a week, organized on a day to day basis. We try to rotate days off for Workawayers to 'escape' and visit the local sights and explore the amazing surroundings of our slice of paradise.

We = an international family of three (Arnold, Bernadette and our daughter Katinka) which have settled after an international career in 2008 'in the middle of no-where' of rural Slovakia. We do appreciate to get requests addressed to us (we even have names :) ) and not a copy-and-paste which has been sent to many places. Because will also and always answer you a.s.a.p and personally. Just write to us first, later you can still contact the other hosts :) And please don't send any long essays.

On our calendar you can see for which period we need help, however if you have your own accommodation like a campervan or caravan or whatever we might also be able to host you when the calendar is on 'yellow'.

  • Help

    Help

From April till October we welcome Workawayers on our farm campsite.

In April and May we get ready for the summer season, help is needed with things like mowing grass, helping in the vegetable garden, erecting tents and some construction help. Lot of it is farm help, so rather physical. You should like solitude or come with a friend in Spring.

In June, July and August you can help us at the campsite with mowing grass, cleaning, cooking, watering plants and sometimes on the farm (bringing water to the animals, checking fences, weeding in the vegetable garden), it might also involve shopping in the towns around us.

In September and October the help can be on the farm including cleaning stables, or cutting wood or maintenance of our buildings (like painting).

We are always looking for optimistic and nice people who like other people incl. children, animals and nature. Our ideal work-awayer is friendly, responsible, self motivated and we can count on her/him.

"Our experience here as Workaway Ambassadors was great. Not only did we learn a lot about farming but we met the best people. The hosts are really loving people and they made everything with love. They are very hardworkers and funny and they make the best cheese ever! Their daughter is adorable and we really get along with her, we miss her and she became as our little niece. All the animals are really good and you can have funny moments with the baby goats or feeding the little lambs. The wagon has everything you need and they make sure that you have everything to eat. We have nothing but thanks to you and we really hope to come back some day."
