    We are Beatriz and Silvio, members of an ecovillage in Colombia Villa , we are located in Santa Sofia, Boyacá, Colombia, 18 km from Villa de Leyva, one of the most touristic towns in Colombia. The project was founded in 2013; currently 12 people live in the village and 12 more people are part of the project as permanent non-resident members.

    I, Beatriz have been co-fpunder since 2000 of the Colombian network of ecovillages, CASA Colombia, since 2012 founder of CASA Latina - Council of Sustainable Settlements of the Americas-, from 2015 to 2019 I was Vice President of GEN - Global Ecovillage Network -, I am Vice President of Change the World Colombia and seeder and linker of permaculture initiatives and women's circles.

    In the ecological village We have advanced a lot in the bioconstruction of our houses and community infrastructure, in most of these constructions the support of Workaway volunteers from many countries has been very important.

    We want to invite you to learn with us and support us in our organic gardens and edible forests. We currently have more than 50 varieties of food and medicinal plants planted. We want to advance much more towards our food sovereignty and we want to count on your help.


    Somos Beatriz y Silvio, miembros de una ecoaldea en Colombia Villauna comunidad intencional, estamos ubicados en Santa Sofia, Boyacá, Colombia, a 18 km de Villa de Leyva, una de las más turísticas pueblos de Colombia. El proyecto fue fundado en 2013; Actualmente 12 personas viven en el pueblo y 12 personas más forman parte del proyecto como miembros permanentes no residentes.

    Yo, Beatriz, he sido co-fundadora desde 2000 de la red colombiana de ecoaldeas, CASA Colombia, desde 2012 fundadora de CASA Latina - Consejo de Asentamientos Sustentables de las Américas-, de 2015 a 2019 fui vicepresidente de GEN - Red Global de Ecoaldeas -, soy Vicepresidente de Change the World Colombia y sembradora y enlazadora de iniciativas de permacultura y círculos de mujeres.

    En la aldea ecológica Hemos avanzado mucho en la bioconstrucción de nuestras casas e infraestructura comunitaria, en la mayoría de estas construcciones ha sido muy importante el apoyo de los voluntarios de Workaway de muchos países.

    Queremos invitarte a aprender con nosotros y apoyarnos en nuestros huertos orgánicos y bosques comestibles. Actualmente contamos con más de 50 variedades de plantas alimenticias y medicinales plantadas. Queremos avanzar mucho más hacia nuestra soberanía alimentaria y queremos contar con su ayuda.

    Los voluntarios nos apoyarán con el cuidado de nuestros huertos comunitarios, y el bosque comestible, sembrando, plantando, desyerbando, regando, fertilizando, preparando fertilizantes, bio-preparaciones, cosechando, aprendiendo juntos.

    Ahora tenemos más de 25 camas que nos proveen comida orgánica y un área de cultivo de hongos orellanas, un lugar para producir bocachi, bioles y otros fertilizantes orgánicos. Es importante que tengas alguna experiencia previa de agricultura orgánica. Por favor en tu petición de voluntariado cuéntanos tu experiencia en este tema.

    Disfrutarás de comida vegetariana ovo lacto, rotando con la familia madrina. Rotarás con nosotros para preparar alimentos.

    Todos los viernes organizamos una "Minga", palabra nativa para hablar de trabajo colectivo, participarás de la minga, y el resto de días trabajarás solo con la orientación de la familia madrina, quienes rotarán cada semana para permitirte para conocer más a las familias involucradas en nuestro proyecto de soberanía alimentaria.

    The volunteers will support us with the care of our community gardens, and the edible forest, sowing, planting, weeding, watering, fertilizing, preparing fertilizers, bio-preparations, harvesting, learning together.

    Now we have more than 25 beds that provide us with organic food and an area for growing orellanas mushrooms, a place to produce bocachi, bioles and other organic fertilizers. It is important that you have some previous organic farming experience. Please tell us about your experience in this matter in your volunteer request.

    You will enjoy lacto-ovo vegetarian food, rotating with the godmother family. You will rotate with us to prepare food.

    Every Friday we organize a "Minga", a native word to speak of collective work, you will participate in the minga, and the rest of the days you will work only with the guidance of the godmother family, who will rotate every week to allow you to learn more about the families involved in our food sovereignty project.

    In their free time volunteers can enjoy community recreation, film forums, chats, bonfires, visiting nearby tourist sites as well as the town of Villa de Leyva, one of the most important tourist destinations in Colombia.

    There is public transport from Bogota to Santa Sofia and from there you can walk -50 minutes- or take a moto taxi or a private car to the Villa.

    En los tiempos libres los voluntarios pueden gozar de actividades recreativas comunitarias, cineforos, tertulias, fogatas, visitar los sitios turisticos cercanos asi como el pueblo de Villa de Leyva, uno de los mas importantes destinos turisticos de Colombia.

    Hay transporte público desde Bogotá hasta Santa Sofia y de alli se puede llegar caminando -50 minutos- o tomar una moto taxi o carro particular hasta la Villa.
