    This Workaway starts April 9th 2026 (you are welcome to arrive a day or two earlier).
    This Workaway ends April 22nd (you are welcome to stay on a few days later)
    ===========

    Experience off-grid life in beautiful Andalusia.

    There has been a Workaway project here for some time. We are taking it further and welcome your help. We can provide lots feedback from the original project.

    You will have the opportunity to meet like-minded people AND people that are nothing like you, in both a social and working environment.

    The piece of land we occupy is 20 minutes walk from Jimera de Libar in southern Spain. Getting here is relatively straightforward with train and bus links to the village. Jimera de Libar has a couple of shops and several friendly bars. The wonderful town of Ronda is only a 20 minute train journey away, with all its historical sites, shopping, bars, and restaurants a plenty, if you like that sort of of thing.

    The work will involve being part of a team, clearing abandoned land, planting trees, gardening, pool maintenance and some boring stuff like painting walls!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    We have quite a few years of experience as Workawayers, so understand the ups and occasional downs of these adventures. This is a good opportunity to experience an off-grid lifestyle, to learn about yourself and others. As well as some gardening and re-wilding skills. The area has multiple beautiful hiking routes, local markets, friendly locals and occasional live 'music'. Also a possible opportunity to learn some eco building techniques.

    Help

    We are in the process of clearing our land with a plan to plant lots of trees to feed ourselves and the local wildlife. We are looking for people like you to help with this task as well as some other gardening projects and maintenance of the buildings. Being friendly and healthy is a good start. An interest in sustainable and self-sufficient living a big advantage. Being able to get out of bed and ready to start the day essential.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    The Workaway team receives a food budget, and you shop and plan and cook as a group. The house, is lovingly referred to as The Ramble Shack and is completely off-grid. Phones are charged via the sun (it's recommended you bring a power bank). Drinking water comes from the village well (delicious). You will have a gas powered fridge freezer and a two hob cooker. Showers are via a bucket of water warmed by the sun, OR you can jump into the nearby river as many do! We have a compost toilet and a 'normal' toilet. Water is of a premium, so compost loo is preferable but it's not a deal breaker.

    A couple of the bedrooms in the Ramble Shack are shared but not all. We have enough electric light as the solar panels provide, usually about 6 hours or so daily.

    There is no WI-FI here but you can get a reasonable signal using mobile data.
