Description
We are a three generational family living in two locations in the Himalayas. After traveling the world, we returned to the hills and in our enthusiasm we built cottages in two little villages with land around them.
One location is our original family village home about 6 km from Almora with a 150 year old house and fields. The other is a couple of cottages near Ranikhet.
We need help with the following:
1. Regular maintenance jobs: painting, cleaning and repair of the buildings and gardens.
2. Creating and conducting educational workshops for children aged 6 to 16.
We had a little village school here which closed after COVID. But the children from the villages around us still need help in their studies. We need help with designing workshops and modules to teach them, especially English, Math and Science which are neglected in the local schools.
3. Working in our little organic vegetable garden. The beans, chillies and cucumbers we grew last month were the best. Now it's time for carrots, pumpkins, greens...come and grow it all with us.
4. Helping to start a homestay in our ancestral village. We have a little wooden cottage next to our old stone house- which we want to offer as a getaway with a difference- a village immersion holiday - a peaceful retreat.
We need help in setting up, cleaning and gardening here.
5. Any new projects with renewable energy, sustainable farming etc. Our spaces are yours if you have the energy, ideas and wherewithal to start something beautiful here.
We have clean air, gorgeous views and lovely weather- we just need your help and energy to maintain our beautiful surroundings and your new ideas to do something even more fantastic here.Types of help and learning opportunities

Volunteers will get a chance to experience life in the Himalayas.
We are a local family but have had the advantages of education and travel, so between us we speak German, English, Hindi, Spanish and Pahari.
We enjoy spending time together playing soccer, volleyball, board games, the guitar, hiking, running, singing or dancing. But we also love time alone and really enjoy peaceful solitude.
We feel super lucky to have a home in the Himalayas and would love to have you help us make something even more beautiful here.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
With several buildings and a fair amount of land we need people good at cleaning, gardening, repair and maintenance or those willing to learn.
We would also love to have people interested in teaching the village kids that are here daily and/or organizing music, art or yoga events.
Our organic vegetable garden could definitely use enthusiastic farmers.
Now that we have also started a homestay we would love volunteers with experience or enthusiasm for this work.
Renewable energy and sustainable farming are also of interest to us.
We are actually just looking for energetic people to help maintain and hopefully build something new in our beautiful little village.Languages

No job was too big and no job was too small for her. Watching her work in the garden was like watching someone meditate....she calmly and peacefully brought beauty and order to our yard.

Although she said it was her first time painting walls, she did it with precision and neatness.
She is open, friendly and easygoing. Her stories about her travels left us astounded - she has already experienced so much of the world.
