    Description

We are a Coliving community which was born from a desire to circumvent the traditional pathways of living and explore alternative way to fulfil our human needs.

In 2023 we purchased our 200 year old, 900m2 building with a view to renovating it and the land around it. With complimentary skill sets, we are embarking on a labour of love that we expect to last for generations.

We feel that each member of the team has lived curious, alternative and contrasting lives thus far, giving us distinct and overlapping ideas, values & philosophies which will be channeled into this project. We have big ambitions, and we know that these can only be met with the help of a unique blend of contributors. Thats why we need you! We hope to find kindred spirits who will inhabit the walls, bringing their own brand of energy, share their skills & ideas with one another and eventually leave with fuller souls than they came with.

As this journey continues to unfold for everyone involved, we are seeking different types of people with a desire to apply and share their current skills whilst being proactive about learning and applying new ones. A positive & creative attitude is the most valuable gift you can bring to our project.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

A founding principle of this project is that we aim to engage local community with international guests. We live in a small town of around 200 people, most of whom are living quite traditional rural lives. We already have good relationships with neighbours and are actively exploring ideas concerning how we can return our building to its status of a hub for the community, with the added benefits associated with a revolving cast of international visitors.

We expect that a more concrete picture of our cultural offering will emerge over the next few years, but in the short term you can expect to find all the cultural beauty you might expect to be associated with rural mountain living in the most beautiful region of France...elevated with our forward thinking, open and experimental attitude towards self sustainability, community living and finding new ways to fulfil our human needs. :)

You'll join us we we transition from our inception stage into becoming a functioning co-living community.

We anticipate it to be a very exciting time with lots of opportunity to roll up your sleeves and get involved! We wont be asking you to do anything that we won't be doing ourselves...this could range from working with David to set up our No-dig market garden, spending time in the kitchen with Lucile preparing to host a communal meal, collaborating with Pol on new social media content & helping Heloise with some painting.

As we are currently in the renovation stage of our project, we are prioritising volunteers with Hard skills. Some experience in working with your hands is preferable and this might include some of the following:

Experience with gardening, growing vegetables, perma-culture, organic farming or creating land based infrastructure such as raised beds, etc.

Experience with building, carpentry, painting & decorating, renovating, plumbing

Cleaning and cooking are also valued skills for out community

We will also accept special projects on a case by case basis, so if there is a particular project which you would like to realise or you have a particular skill set which you think we will find useful within our community please get in touch and we can have a discussion about how we can make it work!

To make sure the relationship is a good fit, we will ask you fill out a short questionnaire and have a quick video chat with us before we consider accepting your application. This is to avoid any mismatching and to make sure we form a relationship which works for both of us.

You will have your own ensuite room which opens on to our internal courtyard. A beautiful space on the first floor of our building with views of the Pyrenees mountain range. Everyone prepares breakfast as individuals, but we will provide modest choices with plenty of bread, eggs and coffee. Lunch and dinner are long communal meals which we cook together and, as is customary in France, we use these opportunities to get to know one another, share information on our days, distribute praise to those who have earned it and draw attention to areas which we can improve our behaviours.

The local area is a playground for those with creative minds and a taste for exploration. 5 minutes walk from the house you can bathe in clear mountain water...and if you are brave enough, dive from the local bridge! Beyond that, the Pyrenees mountains offers you opportunity for all the things you would associate with the mountains, including mountain biking, paragliding, skiing, hiking, wild swimming & foraging.

The local town of Oloron Saint marie, accessed by a 10 minute train ride, has everything you will need in terms of French culture, including quaint bars, small shops & bakeries, music and even the legendary Lindt Chocolate factory which occasionally leaves the small town smelling like Chocolate!

Please be aware that we in a rural town! We have a train connection with 3 trains per day that is walkable from the house. There is a local butchers shop where you can buy simple things such as eggs, bread and meat.
