    Description

We are a ZEC "zone d'exploitation contrôlée" literally a "Controlled harvesting zone" a non-profit, non-governmental organization, similar to a park or natural reserve, managing and developing a 810 km² territory located on public land in La Mauricie region of Quebec, in Canada.

ZECs are a system of territorial infrastructures set up in 1978 by the Government of Quebec to take over from private hunting and fishing clubs to provide universal access to recreational activities to the general public like hunting, fishing and other outdoors activities like hiking, camping, mountain biking and rock-climbing.

We are in a development phase, building cabins, campgroud sites, hiking trails, fishing trails, rock climbing routes, rest areas and canoe-camping routes.

We need help developing, building and maintaining these.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will be fully immersed in the Québec wilderness, where you can learn about the ecosysytems, the flora and fauna of the area and learn french if you don't already speak it.

Here you are in complete nature, with the chance to do some animals sightings (wolves, bears, foxes, martens etc.)

During your time off you could take advantage of our amazing territory by going canoeing, hiking, swimming in beautiful lakes, rock-climbing, camping, fishing or hunting if season allows it.

    Help

We are looking for people to help with running campground and cabin rentals, stocking fish, hiking and mountain biking trails building and maintenance, canoe-camping sites prospection and building, cleaning and general maintenance.

There can be some downtime as the cabins are new and still developing.

We are looking for some autonomous independent people. There could be a few days when you don't see me or are all alone at the cabins.

Some time of the year we might just need help as a 'camp warden' type of job.

We will try to take you out on the terrain to help with the special projects (trail building, campsite building and prospection, stocking fish etc.) and visit the territory at least once a week, but depending of pending authorizations and stuff like that, special project might not be happening at the time of your stay, so going out might happen only once in your 2 weeks stay.

Come! We'll feed you really good! :)

You will be lodged in one of our brand new 'pods', a fully equiped mini-cabin right by a beautiful lake. Have a look at one in our pictures.

Included in the cabin is a brand new super comfortable bed, propane stove, all you need to cook and a woodstove.
Outside you have a fire pit, a BBQ and a picnic table. In a separate building you will find toilets and showers. On site there is canoe and i can lend you some fishing gear, but you will need your Quebec fishing license.

There is no internet at the cabin, but there is at the reception office.

You will also be provided ~100$ CAD weekly for groceries, ~150$ CAD if you're a couple. I can give you a ride to a grocery store or buy food for you when i go into town.
