    Description

Experience spring in rural Sweden: join us for home & gardening projects!

Hello, we are Laura and Andries (both 44 years), a Dutch couple who have been living in Sweden for three years. We share our place with two cats, a dog, and five chickens. We live on a peaceful countryside property, surrounded by nature, but not too far from the city—only 20 km away.

This is our 4th gardening season and we'd love to share our lessons learned, how we prepare our garden, how we experiment every year, and the ideas for this year. We are on a journey to build a more conscious and self-sufficient live. And we'd like to share it with you!

    What we are looking for:
We would love to welcome a hands-on and enthusiastic person to join us for about three weeks between mid-April and May 25th. Together, we will prepare for the new season by working on various small-scale DIY and gardening projects, such as:

    - Preparing and setting up a small greenhouse (a ready-made kit)
    - Painting and minor maintenance tasks
    - Sowing, planting flowers, and tending the vegetable garden
    - Improving rainwater collection by setting up barrels
    - Chopping wood for cozy evenings by the fire

These are personal projects we do ourselves in our free time, and we appreciate having an extra set of hands to share the work in a relaxed, informal way.

    Languages spoken:
We speak Dutch, English, and Swedish, so you can communicate with us in any of these languages.

    Our environment:
We live in a quiet, rural area with plenty of space around us. The nearest town is 11 km away, and you can enjoy scenic walks, cultural sites like ancient burial grounds, and more. The local train station, just 11 km away, connects to fast trains to Göteborg (1.5 hours) and Stockholm (3 hours). There is no busstop nearby so make sure that you have a car so you can enjoy your time off exploring.

    What to expect from us:
    - Warm and welcoming hosts
    - A cozy and comfortable home with all the facilities you need
    - A relaxed and friendly atmosphere
    - Delicious home-cooked (vegetarian) meals with us!

We look forward to welcoming someone who is excited to help and enjoy the beauty of Sweden with us!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love showing guests around the area and encourage them to enjoy the peace and space here. It's great to exchange experiences, especially when it comes to gardening and DIY projects. On nice days, we enjoy having meaningfull conversations around a campfire. And we love game nights.

    Help

On Fridays and Saturdays, we all do tasks together on planned projects for full days. Sundays are completely free to relax or explore the area.

From Monday to Thursday, we work remotely from home, so you'll have the opportunity to help independently on projects around the property. We’ll try to take some time off to join you whenever possible. Help hours and days are flexible (except for Friday and Saturday, when we really need your help), allowing plenty of free time to enjoy nature, culture, or focus on your own projects.

If you’re a digital nomad or looking for a workation, our peaceful environment offers a great place to work, think, and get inspired. There’s plenty of space to focus on your own tasks while also engaging in hands-on activities when you want to.

We welcome people who enjoy getting their hands dirty and helping with various DIY projects—no specific skills needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute. We also love creative ideas that support our goal of self-sufficiency and eco-friendly living!
