Experience spring and early summer in rural Sweden: help us build a regenerative market garden & small farm project

Hello! We are Laura and Andries (both 44), a Dutch couple who have been living in Sweden for four years. We live on a peaceful countryside property surrounded by nature, where we are slowly building a more conscious, hands-on, and regenerative way of living.

We share our place with two cats, a dog, five chickens, and six goats. Life here is calm, practical, and close to nature – with room to learn, try, make mistakes, and enjoy the process together.

This year is special for us: it is our start-up year for larger-scale food production. We are transforming part of our grassland into a regenerative market garden and dreaming of a small farm shop on our property. It’s a learning year, and we are very honest about that: not everything is fixed or finished yet, and that is exactly what makes it interesting.

    What we are looking for
We would love to welcome a hands-on, curious, and motivated person for 4 to 6 weeks, starting from mid-May.

Most of the work will be outdoors and garden-related. Together, we will work on projects such as:
    - Transforming grassland into a productive, regenerative market garden
    - Preparing beds, sowing, planting, and caring for vegetables and flowers
    - Learning and experimenting with soil health, water use, and simple regenerative practices
    - Daily small-scale farm tasks around the garden and animals

In addition, we could use help with:
    - Organising and setting up a barn
    - Possibly renovating part of it into a cozy farm pick-up point
    - Exploring whether a small farm shop is realistic this year (we don’t know yet – and that’s okay)

You don’t need to know everything. We are happy to welcome:
    - Someone who enjoys learning together and discovering things as we go
    - Or someone who already has experience and enjoys sharing knowledge and ideas

This is not a commercial farm (yet), but a personal project we are building step by step, with care for the land and for ourselves.

    Languages spoken
We speak Dutch, English, and Swedish – feel free to communicate in whichever language you’re comfortable with.

    Our environment
We live in a quiet rural area with lots of space and nature around us. The nearest town is about 11 km away. You can enjoy long walks, forests, fields, and nearby cultural sites such as ancient burial grounds.
The local train station (11 km) connects to Göteborg (about 1.5 hours) and Stockholm (about 3 hours). There is no bus stop nearby, so having a car is important if you want to explore the area during your free time.

    What to expect from us
    - Warm, open, and honest hosts
    - A cozy and comfortable home with everything you need
    - A relaxed, informal atmosphere with clear communication
    - Shared home-cooked vegetarian meals
    - Space for learning, asking questions, and contributing your own ideas

If you enjoy working with your hands, being outdoors, and being part of a start-up phase where not everything is fixed yet, we would love to hear from you.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this beautiful place and learning journey with you.

We work alongside you full-time on the project, mainly from Monday to Friday. Sometimes we may also continue in the weekend, but we are flexible and like to decide together what makes sense. We don’t work with strict schedules or fixed hours – we focus on what needs to be done and on keeping a healthy balance between work, rest, and enjoyment.

There is always space to slow down, enjoy a coffee in the sun, take a walk, or simply rest when needed. For us, working with the land also means listening to your body and the rhythm of the day. We don’t keep track of exact hours or specific days; what matters is trust, clear communication, and doing the work together in a good way.

If you’re a digital nomad or looking for a workation, our peaceful countryside offers a great place to work, think, and get inspired. There is plenty of space to focus on your own projects, while also joining in with hands-on work in the garden or around the farm when it suits you.

We welcome people who enjoy getting their hands dirty and helping with gardening, farm, or small DIY projects. No specific skills are required – enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to contribute are what matter most. We especially appreciate creative ideas and initiative that support our journey towards greater self-sufficiency and eco-friendly living.
