Description
Hello! We are Bo and Deb. We live on a beautiful 90 acre ranch in Oakland, Oregon where we appreciate a sense of community and a desire to share the land. We enjoy volunteering locally, as an actor in the community theater and by helping local woodland owners.
We have a tiny home here on the property with all amenities where you can enjoy some peace and privacy. We can cook supper together in the main house. We share our home with Cinder our very friendly dog.
We are interested in forest management techniques and have studied with local foresters. We are applying what we have learned to our forest. The wildlife here is abundant.
We are happy people and we'd love to share our home with someone motivated, friendly and positive.
Update for fall/winter 2023 season. We'd love some help on weed control and wood clean up/ burns as well as some other jobs. We're looking for someone active with stamina, someone who loves to get outside and get things done. Thanks for your consideration.Types of help and learning opportunities

We had great experiences with Workaway guests at our last home in Colorado. After settling in Oregon we have loved having guests here too. It is fun to meet new people, and be a part of their journey. We would love to share our home with you, share cooking and recipes. I am originally from England and have traveled a fair amount. Bo has some basic Spanish language skills.
We would love to share with you what works for the land here - using creativity and imagination to make improvements and use what is readily available. For example, we recycled wood we found on the property to make horse feeder boxes. We made natural fencing from suppressed trees that we thinned. We are interested in your ideas and experiences. With all the outdoor work that is needing to be done now there is plenty to keep you fit and active! I can't reiterate enough how beautiful it is; if you're an outdoors person you're going to love it here.Help
We are doing an oak restoration project on our property. Oaks are important for over 200 species of wildlife and much of the oak savannas and woodlands have been destroyed. Landowners play an important role in preserving this important resource. We are in the process of thinning some forest areas, and it goes so much faster (and more fun) with more people to help.
Our property is designated as a wildlife habitat. In keeping with this we are removing and improving fences to allow deer to easily pass. We share the land with herds of deer, flocks of comical turkeys, as well as numerous other birds and animals. Currently we are improving the fencing for cows also.
Other projects that we are doing are some painting projects around the house, general maintenance, firewood splitting and stacking.
We're looking for someone who is fit and active, loves the outdoors and feels comfortable in nature, someone who will share the cooking and enjoy some meals together. We also value our own time and space and believe in balance.Languages spoken

We have built a comfy guest cottage that we'd love to share with our workaway guests. It is on the original build site with stunning views. We are thinking of renting it out for a B&B at some point. Come try it out!
For extra guests and if people stay who are not a couple we can accommodate that too with extra rooms on the ground floor of the house.
The house has stunning views for miles of the beautiful countryside. There's a BBQ and sitting area outside where you can truly relax in peace. You can hike for hours from the house on the property and adjoining park.
We enjoy cooking together and preparing healthy meals. We choose local organic produce when available and cook locally sourced meat and vegetarian dishes. What else ...
We are a few miles from historic downtown Oakland, known for the Oakland Tavern, the Secret Wine Society and antique shopping. The surrounding area has a lot of wineries - it is often compared to how Napa Valley used to be. Whomever comes here should be comfortable around animals, be tobacco and drug free. We have been vaccinated for Covid and are accepting guests who have also been vaccinated.
