    Description

We live in an old farmhouse in the country side within walking distance (10mins) to the nearest town.
I work as a complimentary therapist part time onsite. My husband Shane, works nearby, our son age 6 goes to a local primary school.
We have a large garden where we use sustainable organic practices to grow vegetables for our family. Shane utilises many permaculture practises and develops his own projects testing microbial inoculations.
I, Orela, see clients during the mornings and sometimes teach classes on nutrition, body work, meditation or energy work.
We would love to provide a home and food for the right person who would like to help with gardening work and some organising inside if the days are wet.
Our local area is part of the west cork micro climate where you could see plants growing here that you don't see anywhere else in Northern Europe.
We are 20 min drive to the nearest beach, 30 min drive to 5 different large towns and 50 min drive to the nearest city. The closest bus stop is at the end of the road and runs to the city or to casletownbere in the other direction.
We live in a calm relaxed area with lots of friendly faces. There is great coffee, weekly town market, and shops all within a short walking distance. A swimming pool, lake and scenic walking opportunities.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Social opportunities would be varied as I am at home most of the time. We would see my family that live locally and are friends with our neighbours.
I used to teach English when I lived in China so can help if needed with learning. We are happy to share any knowledge we have on growing and healing. Using remedies and teas to support plant and human health.
We enjoy chatting to people from all walks of life and sharing ideas and knowledge.

Any day trips we go on you would be welcome to join us as one of the family and we will try our best to show you the best of what west cork has to offer during your stay.

  • Help

    Help

We would like help with general garden maintenence which will sometimes be a task done alone. Other times it will be done with one or all of us helping such as planting, pruning and making trellis for peas/ beans etc. We have a vegetable garden, poly tunnel and starter tunnel for seed prep and garden tea making. We have a black labrador older dog who lives inside but loves being outside with company. We have an outdoor cat who loves head to toe rubs ( but don't touch his tummy 😅) we have 3 ducks who may or may not lay eggs while you are here but are fascinating to watch as they roam around the property.

Inside I may need some help with organising a press or a room.
