    Description

Actively looking for someone to host from mid-October (dates flexible). Contact me if you’re interested! Considering all applications.

Are you looking to travel to the South of France and live near the sea in a well-connected area but also with lots of nature around? We chose to live here for its lifestyle and natural beauty!

I am Emilie and with my almost 7 year-old boy Arthur, we live in Port-Vendres in the South of France. We're looking for someone to join our family to help babysit Arthur outside of school hours.

I am fluent in English and French. Language spoken at home is French. I have lived in the United States as an exchange student when I was 18 years old, then in Berlin, Germany, during my studies. I have also traveled in Europe for extended periods of time when Arthur was a baby.

I work as a marketing and international affairs manager in a small company in Perpignan.

We will provide a file with more photos, photos of your accommodation, information about our town, the region, what to do for fun, the weather, transportation...etc if you are interested in staying with us...

We already hosted a workaway back in 2021 and an au pair for 12 month when Arthur was one and a half. Go and email us to find out if we could be a great match! Currently only email us if you're located in the European Union! We are not ready to pay for plane ticket, visa, etc… for people coming from abroad. Thanks for reading our profile! We look forward to learning more about you and your aspirations!

Share time with us around meals and family activities and enjoy outdoor activities, in nature. We would love for you to be independent as well and explore the area on your own. We love the cultural exchange but we also love our intimacy. We also believe it's important for you to know that we don't expect you to stick with us all the time and it's perfectly fine for us if you leave for the whole day when you have days off. You're welcome to come with us, but you don't have to if you'd like to do something else or need some time alone.

    Help

Babysit our son is the main help I need.

Our son goes to school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The daily school schedule is from 9am to 12 and from 2pm until 5pm. I leave the house at 7:30am. So you would watch our son and help prepare him for school from 7:30am until 9am on Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday. You would pick him up from school for lunch and be in charge of him from 12 until 2pm every school day. And pick him up at 5pm and watch him for half an hour in the evening until 5:30pm. I come home around 5:30pm. Additionally you would watch him the entire day on Wednesday (from the time he wakes up until I come back at 5:30pm) and you would take him to his activities. You must have a driving licence (mandatory). You may watch him once or twice a month in the evening, maybe one Saturday night but this will be rare. Also I sometimes can’t come home at 5:30pm and arrive at 6. So in this case you would watch him an additional 30 minutes but this is rare also. Weekends are off.

I expect you to clean up after yourself and clean up after lunch and snacks with Arthur. Some family help around the house is expected as Arthur doesn’t need you 100% of the time when you watch him.

As a bonus if this is something you’re interested in, I would like you to interact with our son to share your language, culture and hobbies (to open his mind to other things we can't provide):

Our region is very beautiful. We have both the sea and the mountain to enjoy and there are many many many things to discover for adventure, peacefulness, nature and friends. There are many people who live here that come from different parts of France and the world and we found that people are very friendly and welcoming. We made friends very quickly when we moved here compared to other places. The town next to ours is Collioure which is infused with arts, if I can say, because many famous painters lived there, one of the most known is Matisse. If you enjoy painting, drawing and arts in general, you will definitely find lots of inspiration there. The sea offers the opportunity to learn to scuba-dive, sail, fish and so much more (all year round, we have the contacts). The mountains offer lots of nature, peace, snow in the winter, possibility to go skiing. You can walk, run, hike,...etc. If you stay for an extended period of time, I recommend you sign up to a club or take some French courses so that you meet other people and don’t depend on me for your social life, although I will introduce you to friends as seeing them arises.

Shops, restaurants, the beach, train station, bus stops...etc are available from a walking distance. Having a driving license is mandatory to bring Arthur to his activities and to school. What else ...

There is a regional bus driving through our town (only 1€) which goes to Spain, Perpignan (20 minutes) and the ski stations. Very easy to go around. The harbor and town are in walking distance from our house (supermarket, drug store, restaurants, library...etc). There are many paths through nature available from our house. Perpignan is a big city with all the shops such as H&M...etc, and everything a big city can offer such as exhibitions, museums...etc
