  • Description

I think being surrounded by kind people and being somewhere outside (at home ... wherever that might be... or at new places) and doing some physical movement are the two things I would always prefer. Right after that, I would always choose a good strong coffee! But actually so many things make me happy: Go running, cooking, swimming, doing yoga, reading, journaling, just walking, sitting outside ... or going on a Coldplay concert etc). During the last couple of years I realized that while enjoying time with friends, and I really appreciate it being surrounded by people that make me feel good and calm. At the same time, I can also enjoy and maybe even need some time by myself. This could be as simple as going for a walk or just have some coffee with croissant (always something sweet) outside somewhere. I think as I am getting older, my enthusiasm about soo so many things is growing, too, and I will never get tired of trying new things (skateboarding, languages, sourdough bread etc), getting inspired by friends or strangers and soaking up new ideas and telling everyone about it, trying to make them as excited about it as I am. I also realized that being surrounded by children makes me feel happy and brings so much joy in my everyday life. To know that I can help and be there for someone and thus to contribute to a (more) peaceful togetherness, I guess that is what my motivation and happiness looks like.

More details about my language interests
I have learned the Indonesian language for a couple of years at the university, and I can do small talk, but unfortunately, not too much more anymore as I do not speak the language at home ... I would be happy and interested in deepening my language skills and could teach German in return. I am enrolled in an online course to become a German as a Foreign Language Teacher, so it would be a good practice and I have already acquired some useful tips and methods.

During the course of my study program "International Management based on Southeast and South Asia" which is a colorful mix of economics, cultural and regional studies, law and Bahasa Indonesia, I gained valuable insights into the culture, and acquired cultural sensitivity as well as language skills aand I would be more than happy to improve my Indonesian skills :). We also learned a lot about the work of NGOs and looked at the social and political situation in Southeast and South Asia ... of course, we also cooked a lot of Indonesian food with our Indonesian professor.

I liked studying, but I always enjoyed the practical part much more, so I joined the student council at the university, and we regularly organized smaller and larger cultural events/activities, and I always really enjoyed that. When I went to school, I started having different kinds of side-jobs. One of my favorite ones were the one as a child carer (I still do that from time to time either at schools or at the family's home), as a waitress/barista in local coffee shops/restaurants, and as a biking courier (delivering books). Later, I have discovered the field of German as a Foreign Language when I volunteered for an NGO teaching German for refugees. Afterward, I worked as a social worker/pedagogical assistant at a boarding school for students studying German as a foreign language and I really enjoyed that time even though it was tough sometimes. But people give you so much in return, they were so thankful and grateful, that was beautiful. Currently, I am enrolled in an online teacher training course “Deutsch Lehren Lernen” (DLL) program to become a German as a foreign language teacher (from Goethe Institute).

That was a lot about the "formal" part of my life, but maybe there is even more when talking about my personal interests and routines. Only recently I started baking our own bread with sourdough, we (I live in a shared-flat) grow our own "balcony vegetables" and there is a trend right now in painting ceramics which I really love doing! I could drink tooo much coffee a day and enjoy cooking and baking while listening to peoples stories (& good music), exchanging ups and downs, discussing everything and anything or planning trips for our days off/the evenings/mornings :)
