    Description

    This is an agro-ecological farm, sustainability, and cultural preservation project hosted by the indigenous Ortega family. Immerse yourself in the culture of the Amazon rainforest with a loving and fun family who will share each aspect of their lives with you.
    Learn how to plant, harvest, and utilize plants of the zone including cacao, banana, yuca, vanilla, coffee, local tropical fruits, medicinal plants, and much more.
    Make traditional artisan crafts such as: jewelry from local seeds and ceramic tasks from clay. Enjoy activities including: guided trips to rivers, waterfalls, natural swimming spots, jungle hikes, yoga, and shared home-cooked traditional meals.
    Do tasks alongside the family on the farm/gardens, with bio-construction of eco-cabanas, in the kitchen, and with artisan crafts.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    You will be fully immersed in our culture as we do everything together as a family with you! Learn the way of life from how we grow our food, prepare traditional dishes, create artisanal chocolate and crafts, swim in the rivers, and enjoy the nature of the Amazon rainforest! You will have the opportunity to practice lots of Spanish (and Kichwa- the indigenous language)!
    We also love learning about other cultures and are always open to trying and learning new things from you!

    Work side by side with our family in planting and harvesting from our organic farm, with the ecological construction of our cabanas using local sustainable materials, cooking traditional dishes, making artisanal chocolate from our cacao, and creating traditional crafts from seeds, clay, and bamboo.

    Stay in our bamboo/ wood eco-cabanas that we dedicate for volunteers and tourists. You will have a bed and use our shared bathroom and kitchen spaces. All meals will be provided, home-cooked by our host Marisol, but you may also prepare/store your own food as you wish.

    In your free time you can enjoy the beauty of the Amazon rainforest. You're always welcome to hang out with us (we're always up to some kind of activity) or you can enjoy your free time as you wish! Relax in hammocks listening to the nature at our eco-cabanas, explore nearby rivers, waterfalls, hikes, rafting, kayaking, and popular tourist spots. Make artisanal chocolate, ceramics, jewelry, practice your Spanish, learn about medicinal plants of the rainforest, tend farm animals, and laugh with our family.
