Description
Hello!
We would love to host a kind fun-loving human to hang out with our 4 and 7 year old kiddos.
We are a family of four living between the forest and the salish sea on Gabriola Island.
I am Ana, the stay at home parent and I am currently studying from home. My partner Raif is a carpenter and works during the week.
Everyday we enjoy walking the network of trails surrounding our property that connect the forest and a beautiful beach. We love meeting people from other cultures and learning about different ways of life, especially their foods and music. We would love for someone to share some of their culture with our family!
For us its really important to keep the communication open and honest. We want you to be able to tell us when you need a break or alone time and we will do the same. Coming to stay with us should mean an enjoyable adventure for you and we do not expect long hours or heavy work.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Like many Gabriolans we spend quite a lot of time swimming! There will be community events and musical gatherings we can attend most definitley. Gathering on the beach and dipping into the warm high tide water is where you will find yourself at the heart of Gabriola culture.

Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We primarily need someone to do activities and go for walks with my 4 year old son and make him lunch. Come summer the care will include my 7 year old daughter. This is for someone who is a kid person and is delighted by kid energy!
The other task will be turning the wild yard into a tidy(er) garden. In this case you will be working alongside me while the kids run around and I will show you what needs to be done. We just finished building our house and I am excited to turn our recently excavated yard into a cozy garden space.
One week at the end of july another mom and I will be running a theatre and art camp for kids, that could be really fun for the right person to help out with.
Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Spanish: IntermediateThis host offers a language exchange
We speak english but open to learning a bit of any language! Raif is semi fluent in spanish if that is needed.
Accommodation
You will have your own RV camper with a bit of semi private greenspace.
The RV is what we lived in while we built our house. It has everything you will need. A little kitchen, bathroom with shower and bedroom. You can expect to self serve breakfast in your space and join us for lunch and dinner most days.
What else ...
We expect you will want time to explore. I dont mind showing you around some, I often take the kids on day trips to new nature spots on Vancouver Island. We are a 20 minute ferry ride from the downtown of a much larger city where you can walk around easily. I could easily drop you off to explore that.
On our Island it is really a nature based experience. We live across the street from whalebone beach, you can use my paddle board.
If you have a valid drivers license you can borrow my car to go to explore the many other beaches or go to the cafe. There is also a really good thrift store open two days a week we will go to.
If you are keen on doing art related activites, check out the Gabriola Arts Community website to see what workshops and events are happening. Gabriola is called the "Isle of the Arts."
