    Description

My name is Silvia Vasquez Vega. Along with my husband Chicho and my family, we have a company dedicated to the production of very good quality wood, under a seal of certification and sustainability standards. We have a forest camp located approximately 20km from the city of Coyhaique, where we harvest and manage our native forests. At another small property where we live, we process the wood, which is dried and bagged, to be sold commercially- mainly in the city of Coyhaique. We are told that our business is innovative because we work in a sustainable manner, taking care of the environment and using our ingenuity, innovation and technology to come up with a quality product for each household, contributing to welfare, economy and health for the population. I have been awarded for developing good management practices and have also been able to qualify for some state subsidies to strengthen my company. Our house is on a farm, where we have birds, some animals, garden, and a beautiful river banks passing our home. Our business is strengthened by a warm family atmosphere, and teamwork. We are very friendly and we love to share and learn new experiences! Our path has been sweet and bitter, however, when we think about something as simple and typical as is a piece of wood, we give meaning and purpose to a true lifestyle here in Aysén. These activities represent some of the life of all the inhabitants here, as we maintain our regional identity. Welcome to our home!

Sean bienvenidos a nuestro hogar!!!

    - First of all, consider that your presence is a welcome exchange of experiences, and we did not take advantage of your work. We understand the logic of volunteerism and generate spaces for friendship, cordiality, exchange, based on respect, patience, and adaptation of new cultures and customs.
    How you can help:
    - Selecting trees for cutting. We train with good management practices, and we know how to choose a tree that minimises overall impact on the forest. We provide the conditions so that the vegetation will regenerate and grow back.
    - Loading and unloading logs and firewood from the trucks we use to transport them.
    - If you have experience in the use of machinery for cutting logs, we can evaluate whether this is something you may help us with.
    - Using a log splitting machine to break the wood into smaller pieces.
    - Selecting wooden pieces and bagging them for sale.
    - Assisting in other housework and farming, for example, cutting grass, feeding the birds, assisting in the greenhouse, or helping around our home.
