    Description

We’re creating a food forest, eco-campsite, and simple sustainable lifestyle on our mountain land in Piemonte. Come help us with gardening, building, and daily life — and enjoy peace, nature, and warm family vibes with us.

🌿 Welcome to our off-grid family life in the Italian Alps

Hi and welcome! We’re a small family living off-grid in the beautiful mountains of Piemonte, one hour north of Torino. Our place is a sanctuary of peace and nature — forest, open fields, creeks, and wildlife all around.

We came here to live simply and sustainably, but discovered how much we enjoy sharing this life with others. That’s why we love to welcome helpers to join us, learn, laugh, and create together.

    👩‍👩‍👦 About us

Sabine – passionate about herbs, our vegetable garden, and all things nature. A creative soul who also works as a hypnotherapist and loves open-hearted conversations.

Wouter – traveler turned host, always curious about sustainable living, handy projects, and showing our son the magic of natural life.

Owin (our baby boy) – full of joy, energy, and “helping hands.” You’ll often find him exploring the garden, forest, or climbing on mum and dad.

    🌱 Our place

Our 1.5-hectare property is a mix of forest and open land. Here we are creating:

    a food forest

    a vegetable garden

    a small-scale eco-campsite

Life here flows with the seasons — chestnut harvests in autumn, woodstove cooking in winter, fairy-tale blossoms in spring, and fireflies in summer nights.

    🛠️ How you can help

There’s always a variety of tasks, depending on the season and your interests. For example:

Gardening and planting in the food forest

    Small building or maintenance projects

    Firewood and land care

    Helping with the campsite

    Creative ideas for natural living

We don’t expect you to be skilled in everything — just willing to learn, share, and enjoy the process.

🌄 What you get in return

A peaceful mountain setting surrounded by nature

Healthy food from the garden and forest

Simple off-grid lifestyle experience (no TV, but the best sunsets and starry nights!)

Warm family atmosphere, meaningful conversations, and space for yourself too

Plenty of inspiration if you’re curious about herbs, sustainability, or creative living

    📍 Practical info

Location: Piemonte, near Ivrea and Castellamonte (1 hour north of Torino)

Accommodation: simple, cozy, depending on season (tent, caravan, or cabin)

Food: we cook and share meals together — local, seasonal, often from our land

Best time to visit: any season has its magic!

    💌 Come join us

If you’d love to experience off-grid life, help create a sustainable place, and share time with a young family in the Italian Alps — we’d be happy to hear from you! Send us a message, you’re very welcome.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Since we live in nature, this a thing you'll be learning from. Sabine knows some about herbs and their capacities (and is learning). She knows how to make it into a tincture or a balm. And Wouter just likes to be outside and share this time with you. We're in for good company. And we know the secret places to visit. Obviously we're in for a good conversation. And we love to play... Maybe do some acro yoga? Love nature? Dive into one of the many beautiful natural swimming spots in the river.

Almost every visitor or WorkAwayer leaves as a member of our Off Grid Family with new inspiration, ideas, energy, to continue their journeys.

  • Help

    Help

    Before we jump in the tasks and kind of help. Let's start with this;

    1. Only do the things that inspire you.

In short we're looking for help in the garden and in/around the house. We work a lot wit natural materials, f.e. beams from the forest.

    Some high on the list tasks for example in a list;

    - Digging - We need to set our house free from the mountain (💧) And we want to create flat spaces in the garden to sit or camp.

    - Expanding our vegetable garden, making new beds.

    - Setting borders and doing landscaping with nature stone

    - Gardening in vegetable garden and fruitgarden

    - Preparing firewood

    - Creating woodstack

    - Creative projects in the garden like making a shelter, compost toilet, etc..

    - Helping with little upgrades on our house like assembling a wardrobe, or something like that.

    - Plenty things to do. Always something you like.

    - Other things depending on the season.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Depending on the season we can offer you a stay in a campspot, or our little cosy caravan.

    In general we share all our meals. Meaning there will be 3 meals for you during the day;
    Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner.

We like to either cook, or taste your cooking skills.

We eat vegetarian. But love our cheese, butter and eggs.

Off course we try to eat as much as possible from the garden.

(Sabine also knows some about edible flowers and plants) We compliment this with foods from the market.

We daily clean the dishes. When there's more people around we try to do this more frequent, in order to keep it clean.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Even though we live remote, it's pretty easy to find. If you follow our instructions. (provided in time) With public transport you can get to Ivrea. Or, if you have more time even up to our valley by bus. A car obviously gives you most freedom.

We're at a 35 min drive from Ivrea, which has a train station.

    Time off?
    - walks up the mountain, plenty of tracks
    - river visits
    - Damanhur
    - Taste the best ice creams Italy has to offer
    - etc.

    Puria (4 years)

Puria is our shy but lovely black cat. Wachting over the house and the garden. She loves her peace. And only shows herself when she feels safe. In summer she spends her days as a wild cat hunting down anything. In wintertime she likes to snuggle up in a warm and dry place. We love her
