    Description

I'm a British man, 52 years old & have loved living in Granada since 2002. I'm a carpenter, builder, gardener & have dreamt of living on a farm again since I left our family farm of pets and animals when I was 18 years of age. My dream finally came at last autum when i began to live on this piece of paradise with my cats I dearly love and chickens with the most unique characters. It's the dream place of anyone who enjoys nature no matter the age-we all enjoy beauty. There is an abundance of outstanding hikes all around and mountains no matter where you look or go, also there is a lake that is only know by locals which has the most beautiful turquoise colour and it's only 7 min walk so you can have a dip everyday! I'm cultivating a wide range of fruits, vegetables, vines, trees, lherbs & flowers so we can harvest these gifts of nature all year around. My plan for this place is to make it an ideal natural workaway from everyday life for everyone, I have more plans and more passion coming every day so for sure I'm not stopping anytime soon to better this place, hopefully it will become a shrine for artists one day.
The picturesque Granadan village Güéjar Sierra is 8 minutes walk with all the shops and restaurants you can want. Most important piece of Moorish legacy - the Alhambra in Granada is 30 minutes drive with regular public transport (1.60€) or my van. I'm located just beneath the peak of the Sierra Nevada the highest mainland mountain in spain reaching 3479 meters above sea level & the ski resort is only 20 minutes drive. One hour drive to the Mediterranean coast from Granada (7€)
The whole area is surrounded by trees & Moorish legacy so Is my farm! The spectacular mountains form a micro climate giving the place lower temperature, freshness under the trees and a lot of unique animals to this area.

The question arises what else could you possibly want 🤔?

Taste the oasis of natural beauty.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

After 24 years of sharing my house in Granada I've experienced a lot of cultural memories with many nationalities, exchanging languages, food, music, hobbies, professions & improving our bodies, minds & such diffrent and unique souls so I know the importance of curiosity and will try to help you stay curious.
I offer my permaculture, gardening, self-sufficient and living one with nature skills & I do love learning from others! So far this year I'm cultivating about 50 types of fruits & veg. Always I'm focusing on what are visitors needs to make their stay extra special.
Vibrant and preserved Granadan culture, exchange hobbies & ways of thinking.
I grew up on family farm, learned how to cultivate corn, mushrooms, hay, straw, strawberries and way too much vegetables and fruit to remember all, and of course how to take care of any type of a farm animal.
I hope you can bring your soul and music for this place so it can feel even more alive.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The accommodation is in nature so the sounds alone can put you to sleep easily, a 3 man quechua tent(for a pair or one person), an enclosed bed with a roof under a cherry tree with hangout area next to it, soon I will finish erecting the dome big enough to accommodate 6 people which you will be able to decorate with any creative intention you want. The workshop/stable is where the cats sleep so If you're a cat person I can arrange a bed in there:). The quechua tent is in a fixed position & has spectacular views(as soon as you open the tent Sierra Nevada welcomes you). While you are stargazing it's one of the places where you can see the milky galaxy clearly! The kitchen is outside with a rocket oven, travel burner, all the cooking ware, sink & water and all produce for cooking.
The bathroom was an eco project so walls are made of mud & straw the roof is made of bamboo, it has water, sink, bidet, bath & a dry toilet so we can reuse everything for compost.
The solar power charges the pump for a shower in the bathroom so you can have a hot shower in winter. In summer shower under trees with heated water by nature all day. The solar power charges computers, phones lights & other small electrical devices but it is limited, depending on the Spanish sun & how many people use it (If you have your own solar charger bring it-it will be more convenient for you). I live here alone(only if we count humans😉 ) & can provide enough solar power to host a few workawayers needs (2-3 as of now).
Most food is ecological, fresh from the vegetable patches, trees, vines & bushes. I offer to take guests to the supermarket to chose the basic foods that I'm not cultivating yet.

I cook us 1 healthy meal per day or you can cook for yourself and work 3hrs instead of 4hrs! Workawayers can help themselves to all the veg and fruit that Im growing. I will provide all basic produce needed bought from the supermarket If you will have any special requests please ask :). Im more than open for evening socialising since we are all books which we read while going along with life!!! All I'm expecting from you is to be tidy and organised so not to leave anything behind and forget it, top rule🤠
    Hopefully see you soon!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Most of the things are in the first part so just a little reminder😏. Take a swim in the lake, enjoy the most amazing walks/hikes beneath & around the Sierra Navada, lots of cultural events in and around Güéjar Sierra, visit Granada, Albaicin, Alhambra, Nasrid Palaces, Generalife, Sacromonte, Arab baths, Cave houses, Mediterranean coast(7€) and all the nookes and crannies you can find along the way.
Frequent(every hour or so) public transport to Granada number 0390(1.60€) also I have a touristic van and if im going to Granada you are more than welcome to come with.
Sometimes I have work during week days nearby & I can then ask if we can work together in the evenings, mornings or weekends, I'm flexible with the types of work but the basic one is the daily routine which you have step by step plan prepared already!! The help I'm requesting is at my private home/garden/everyday life.
Wildlife & plant growth friendly, we don't force the nature we praise it.
    Shine as the flowers grow,
    Can't wait for you!
    Paul
