Description
Help an unschooling family of four. Learn vegan cooking, fermentation
We are a family of four. I, Sarah, originally from Germany, take care full time of the kids and need a helping hand with the kids as I'm also building an online business that I want to put more focus and time into, also taking care of two little kids non-stop with little help is exhausting and I need a break. I have travelled with workaway myself in the past and it's my absolute favorite way to travel and I'm looking forward to the connection we get to build. I'm passionate about anything related to natural parenting like freebirth, holistic health, unschooling.
My husband, Apostolos, who grew up in Greece and Germany, works full time, so he is only home during the evening and on weekends. He is a mechanic and loves working with his hands. He thinks out of the box and loves the unconventional.
We prefer a female workawayer, because that's what we feel more comfortable with.
You will learn about attachment parenting and unschooling. I can teach you whole food plant based cooking and fermentation. My daughter speaks German fluently and understands Dutch, Greek and basic English. In addition to those I speak Spanish but it's very rusty but with practice I can refresh it again.
My oldest daughter Gwendolin is 3.5. She loves playing with her toy cars and blocks, cooking and baking, the occasional craft and rough play and being active.
My younger daughter Ivi (pronounced like the Pokémon Eevee), is just learning to walk. She loves imitating her sister and climbing up all the furniture.Types of help and learning opportunities
Babysitting and creative play
Creating/ Cooking family meals
Help around the house
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are an international family. Apostolos and I have lived in 4 different countries between us and very interested in different cultures.
You get to experience life in a Christian Orthodox family, that focusses on the family bond and doing many things differently.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Your tasks would be helping me with the kids while I work up to 4 hours a day on 5 days a week, also doing light housework that comes with childcare during your helping hours, like tidying up blocks that they are done playing with, giving them a snack when they ask for one, etc. We can discuss when during the day your working hours will take place.

I'm a linguist and very passionate about learning and speaking languages. I can help you learn any of the languages above and will also be interested in your first language. The kids are also open to any language but more comfortable with German, Dutch, English and Greek.Accommodation
We have a spare room and seperate toilet. Shower and bath in our shared bathroom and a shared kitchen. It will be made easy so that you can help yourself to prepare a meal, you can eat with us or we can cook together. We don't want any animal products in the house but if you want to eat those outside that's of course up to you. There are several snack bars and restaurants in our village and a café right next door, also a supermarket, pharmacy and drug store all within walking distance.
What else ...
There is the national park Utrechtse Heuvelrug where we live that you can explore on foot or by bike. We live 30km away from the vibrant and diverse city of Utrecht. It looks like Amsterdam but it's better. 1.5h drive away from the sea. We are also pretty much in the center of the Netherlands so it's a good hotspot to explore the whole Netherlands from by car (if you have your own), we can bring and pick you up from the closest train station. You can use our bike or borrow one from a shop in town.
There is also a pool in a nice tree surrounded area in a village to go for a swim.
There is a bus line that runs regularly connecting you to Utrecht and a train station at 20 minutes by bus, we can also pick you up by car.A little more information
