    Description

We love our country home in Normandy and really enjoy the garden, nature and the peaceful surroundings. Our house is near Beaumesnil, in the Eure, surrounded by countryside and close to the forest, about one hour from the Normandy coast.

The property has a large one-hectare garden, a swimming pool and plenty of outdoor space. We are gradually renovating the house, so it is a real family home rather than a perfect holiday rental, but it is comfortable and welcoming.

We also care for three cats who live freely around the garden. They are independent but affectionate, and one of them is currently raising young kittens. 🐱

We would be happy to welcome people who enjoy animals, nature, gardening and a quiet countryside lifestyle.

Although we will be away during most of the stay, we would be happy to spend some time together before we leave, share a meal or a drink, and help you discover the area.

This is a good opportunity to experience rural life in Normandy, with local villages, markets, forests and traditional towns nearby. The small village of Gouttières has a weekly market, and Bernay is a lovely Norman town to explore.

We speak French and English and would be happy to exchange about French life, the region and our experience of renovating and caring for an old Normandy home and garden.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for help mainly with our cats, garden and a little pool care while we are away.

We have 3 cats who live freely around the garden. They are independent but affectionate, and one of them is currently caring for young kittens. They need feeding, a little attention and someone to keep an eye on them.

The garden is an important part of the stay, especially during dry weather. We have around fifteen young trees and some plants that need regular watering when necessary. We have some automatic irrigation and a robot lawn mower, so no mowing is required, but we would really like someone who enjoys gardening and will make sure the essential watering is done.

The swimming pool only needs some basic care, mainly cleaning the filters.

We are not looking for heavy gardening work, but for someone who enjoys being outdoors and is happy to take care of the garden, cats and house in a thoughtful way.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will stay in our comfortable family home, which we are gradually renovating.

You will have access to the ground floor, including a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. If you are a couple or family and need more space, additional bedrooms upstairs can also be made available.

The house has Wi-Fi, TV, a swimming pool, jacuzzi and BBQ, and the bedding is very comfortable.

You will be able to use the kitchen freely. As this is a house-sitting stay while we are away, meals are not provided, but shops and local food stores are available nearby.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

A car is strongly recommended, as we are in the countryside.

The small village of Gouttières is very close by and has a weekly market. Beaumesnil is about 3 km away and has a grocery shop, bakery, butcher and pharmacy. Beaumont-le-Roger is around 8 km away and Bernay about 10 km.

The Normandy coast is about one hour away by car, and there are many forests, villages and countryside walks to explore nearby.

We would ideally like to meet you the day before, or at the latest on the morning of 29 August, so we can spend a little time together and show you everything before we leave.

We have good Wi-Fi and there is plenty of space to work comfortably from the house. Remote workers are very welcome, as long as they are able to organise their schedule around the cats and the essential garden care

    Space for parking camper vans

We have a large property with enough space to park a campervan or motorhome if you are travelling with one. You would of course also have full access to the house and its facilities during your stay.
