Description
We are a Mexican-German couple living in the peaceful countryside, about 30 minutes from a large city. We have a spacious house, a very large garden and a vegetable garden, and we are looking for some friendly help with gardening, small household tasks and general outdoor projects.
We share our home with a small dog. We enjoy meditation, yoga, nature, quiet living and healthy vegan food. Our home is a calm and welcoming place, ideal for someone who enjoys the countryside, animals and a simple, peaceful lifestyle.
We would be happy to welcome someone who is kind, responsible, independent and interested in sharing daily life with us while helping with the house and garden. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We enjoy sharing meals, conversations and quiet moments with the people who stay with us. Workawayers are welcome to join us for meditation, yoga, walks in nature, gardening, cooking and other everyday activities.
Although we live in the countryside, there is a train connection from our area to the nearest large city, which is only about 30 - 40 minutes away. This makes it possible to enjoy both peaceful rural life and the cultural and social opportunities of the city.
We can share our knowledge and experience in gardening, growing vegetables, harvesting fruit, vegan cooking, making jams and preserves, and dealing with honey. My husband keeps bees, so Workawayers may also have the opportunity to learn about beekeeping, depending on the season and the help that needs to be done.
My husband is German and I am Mexican, so our home brings together two different cultures, languages and traditions.
For us, hosting is also an opportunity to learn. We enjoy meeting people from different countries, hearing about their lives and traditions, exchanging ideas and discovering new ways of seeing the world. We hope to create a respectful, peaceful and friendly atmosphere where everyone can learn from one another. -

Help
We are mainly looking for help with our large garden, vegetable garden and house.
The tasks may include weeding, watering plants, planting, trimming bushes, collecting leaves, harvesting fruit and vegetables, and keeping the outdoor areas tidy. Depending on the season, there may also be small gardening projects or general house maintenance tasks.
We also keep bees, so at certain times of the year there may be an opportunity to help with extracting honey, filling and preparing honey jars, and getting everything ready for storage. We also enjoy making homemade jams, preserves and other products using fruit and vegetables from the garden.
Our house is quite large, so we may sometimes need help with light household tasks such as cleaning, organizing, tidying shared spaces or helping with small practical jobs around the house.
The help is varied and changes depending on the season. It can also be adapted to your skills, interests and experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys practical help, nature and outdoor life, and who is responsible, independent and willing to help.
Although we occasionally rent out a separate apartment, Workawayers are never involved in any tasks related to paying guests or guest accommodation. All activities take place exclusively in our private home and garden. -

Accommodation
We have four spacious guest rooms, each measuring approximately 18–25 square metres, with lovely views of the garden and surrounding trees. Our property has a very large garden of around two hectares, offering plenty of space, nature and tranquillity.
One of the guest rooms is a separate, self-contained apartment. Depending on availability, it may be offered to Workawayers, as we also occasionally rent it out a short term accommodation.
I'm not going to cook three meals a day; I only cook one hot meal, and they can prepare their own breakfast and lunch using the food available at home. I can also ask if they need anything specific, since this is a vegan-vegetarian household. -
What else ...
We live a quiet and peaceful lifestyle and greatly value silence in and around the house. We kindly ask guests to respect this atmosphere and to use headphones when listening to music, watching videos or making calls in shared areas.
During their free time, Workawayers can relax, read, exercise, meditate or simply enjoy our large garden and the surrounding nature. There are many opportunities for walking and cycling in the countryside, and there is a small lake nearby where some water sports and outdoor activities are available.
Cologne is approximately 30 minutes away and Düsseldorf around 45 minutes away, so it is also possible to visit both cities during your time off. Public transport connections are available from our local area. -

Can host digital nomads
Our internet connection is generally good enough for online work, and I personally work online as a psychotherapist. However, as high-speed broadband is not yet available in our area, the connection can occasionally be unstable. This does not happen often, but digital nomads who depend on a completely reliable connection, especially for frequent video calls, should keep this in mind.

Space for parking camper vans
We have a large property with plenty of outdoor space, so it may be possible to accommodate a campervan or motorhome, depending on availability and the size of the vehicle. Please contact us in advance so we can confirm whether a suitable parking space is available. We do not operate as an official campsite, so facilities for campervans are limited.
