    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Both of us come from various cultural backgrounds, speak a few languages (English fluently, as well as Japanese, Korean, and Cantonese). We would love to meet people from around the world and share our experience living in rural Japan.

I will be living in our house at the same time and working on some renovations. I have some renovation projects that I'm working on (carpentry, building furniture, fixing up holes in walls etc) and would like a second hand to assist me. I'll probably be doing trips into town to the hardware store so for those who want to experience what Japanese DIY is like, we'd love to have you!

    Help

We need help with cleaning our home, fixing some furniture, and general landscaping. It's a big property with two stories so we're looking for someone who can lift heavy things and doesn't mind going up and down stairs.

As neither of us are very handy with DIY stuff, we'd especially love handy people who know how to fix/build things!

    Accommodation

We have free private rooms available with provided linen and towels. We also have a large kitchen that you are free to use and plenty of fridge space, a large common area for hanging out in, and space in the garden for enjoying the outdoors. We may even get the pizza oven going :) We have a large kitchen that any Workawayers can utilise to cook their own meals and we offer a simple continental breakfast each morning (cereal, toast, fruit, tea and coffee) and we look forward to taking guests out to dinner at local eateries. We can offer this in exchange for 25 hours of help a week, but are open to other arrangements if Workawayers prefer to contribute less time.

    What else ...

We are walking distance to Hakuba Goryu resort, and there are local buses that can take you elsewhere. The train station is also a 10 minute walk away which can help you get to Omachi or beyong. We're also happy to drive you elsewhere around town if you need to go to a supermarket, or are keen to visit other sites too.
