    We are a local family in Mfangano Island,Kenya and we are happy to share our home with the world. We welcome solo travelers, couples, families, groups and students from anywhere in the world to come to our door, to stay with us, and dine with us; our hospitality is truly unique.To experience real cultural exchange and much more, come to Mfangano Island and be our guest.We offer out door self interacting enthusiastic environment offering a unique place to stay based on a simple way of living,in close interaction with nature giving full possibility to disconnect from technological distractions and high tempo city lifestyle. We are located somewhere not so far and not so close depending with where you are.Due north,a beautiful mountain range covered by green vegetation that supports African monkeys and several species of birds, down is the world’s second largest fresh water Lake (victoria)offering best fishing, swimming, and water sporting opportunities. In the east, a observable rising sun is daily observed to its sunset due west in the evening (12hours) as it disappear in the massive water horizon, as the very visible stars and the great moon takes over. Cultural reserves are intact including sacred grounds (ancestral ritual grounds) and ancient rock painting.Eco-diversity stands our pride, and these surrounds our home and farm.

    We welcome volunteers to come and help us in our organic farm. Because we are also working on construction volunteers who have the skills are welcomed. We are also working in supporting widows around the Island and offering financial support to orphans and needy children in our region. COME and ENJOY working with WIDOWS and ORPHANS with us. There is also a literacy Library for both old and young generation. We enjoy spending time with the kids and old people to teach them how to read and write. You can be among the few who might have chance to teach the grandma’s how to read and write as they also teach you our local languages and Swahili.

    Computer Literacy program is not left behind we also teach the kids basic computer skills to help them during their study and research so that they may fit in the technological world.Currently am also learning how to code. Any volunteer who have the experience and skills to help teach me go through the curriculum is really welcomed.

    A stay with us in our farm enhances the volunteers understanding on nature and cultural practices thus providing them with an opportunity to explore the beautiful sceneries of Mfangano Island in the Lake Victoria while experiencing real farm life in an offline and disconnected way of living.

    The land and all the buildings need continuous care, repair and improvements. A genuine interest in the ongoing process of running a farm is highly appreciated.

    Construction & building
    We are always working on different projects to develop and improve the structures on the farm. Construction and carpenter skills are therefore a welcomed reinforcement.

    Organic Gardening
    A large area around the farm is slowly being formed into a garden using the ideas behind permaculture as a base. Knowledge and experience from similar work is more than welcomed.

    Animal Care
    Our dog, cat, cows,goats and chickens are very familiar with us and we prioritize spending time and socializing with them.

    Help With Computers and Internet
    Volunteers who have skills on basic computer literacy programs as well as CODING are fully appreciated and welcomed to help us with the computers.

    Teachers are welcomed. All volunteers who may teach arts,Languages, Sciences , How to read and write are welcomed to help in the library.

    We value and appreciate our volunteers so much, Our volunteers have several options to choose based on their decisions. The volunteers can stay at our house with the family or can stay in other separate house that is ment for the volunteers to stay in. There is also maximum security

    The volunteers will have both private and share rooms. Private rooms are available for couples and other volunteers who may want privacy
    While other volunteers will have shared rooms but different beds and are only shared by others.
    We offer three meals in a day for our Volunteers. This includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
    Volunteers have shared toilets as well as private space reserved for them. Meals are made from organic products with organic ingredients.Local fish from the lake is also available,Poultry products from our garden and vegetables from our garden and fruits.We accomodate vegetarians,lactose,gluten intolerant volunteers and vegans

    There are many ways to enjoy the wonderful and diversified nature that Mfangano has to offer. For instance there are excellent possibilities for fishing, hiking, biking, climbing and much more. And if you ever get tired of nature, there are small, picturesque villages to visit all around the island as well as museums, ancient rock paintings and much more.

    Travel from Nairobi to our farm will be the best experience ever. FromNairobi Railways, Book a Nairobi-Mbita Easy Coach Bus that is approximately 8hours travel to the Great Lake Victoria Region. In Mbita travel cool using Mbita -Mfangano Waterbus as you see the beautiful views if several Islands in Lake Victoria. We will pick you up as the waterbus or ferry docks.
