    Description

We bought the 250 years old watermill in 2008 to bring it back to use and to make it a self-sufficient place.

The watermill is traditionally used to grind the grain from the farms around and to process it to flower and bread. The last miller/baker quit in 1962. When we bought it the mill was almost intact and at this moment it produces 2000kwh, depending on the amount of rain. We can also grind the grain again. The house next to the mill is rebuild as Bed & Breakfast en there is a workshopplace with an oven to make bread an pizza’s from self-made flower. We offer different courses; there is a camping place and a fishing pond. For the future we want to make a little restaurant and company kitchen.

The watermill is located in Densborn, a little town close to Gerolstein and Bitburg. The whole area is focussed on providing food for the people. On the plot (1,5 hectares) are all different kind of fruittrees: apple, plum and hazelnut. We also started to put the food garden into process and we will get chicken rabbit and pigs. We want to sell the products we produce ourselves according to the philosophy “from seed to the plate”. It’s not focused on earning a lot of money but on living as part of nature and in harmony with nature.

We are looking for people to help us with the daily maintenance and to help us develop the place further. We are planning to start a perma-culture garden and a house of straw or an earthship. Also we are looking into starting permaculture courses.
    Any help will be appreciated!
