    Description

    Hello,
we are Anke, Christian, Ronja (9) and Matusch (5). We live on our farmyard (10.000 m²) in Golzow in the biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin in eastern Germany, 60 km from Berlin.
We are on the farmyard since 3.5 years. We are restoring the old farm house in an ecological way. We have got a little garden for our self-support, some cats, dogs and sheep. We make Terra Preta. A sustainable way of gardening, building and living is very important for us. We use wood from the near forest for heating.
About ourselves: Anke studied forestry and works at the moment at a little free school in Angermünde. Christian is carpenter and studied wood technology. He works part-time as a research assistent at the university in Eberswalde. We are around 40 years old. We like music. Anke plays the clarinet. We speak German, English and Spain. Our daugter is vegetarian. So we cook mostly without meat.
We always need your help with gardening and with construction. There are a lot of “little“ tasks like cooking, watching the kids, pile the firewood, mow the lawn …
Of course it is great if you bring skills like building, using tools like electrical saws etc, experiences with carpentry or any other type of mechanical art, ... You're welcome to contribute with any other skill that you have (DIY, fixing things etc.) We also expect you to clean up after yourself.
Accomodation is very simple. You could live in a tent. Or there is chamber under the roof without any comfort. You can use our bathroom and kitchen. To take a warm shower you have to heat the wood stove.
Surrounding is beautiful. There is a little train station close (300 m) to our house. You can go to Eberswalde (10 minutes) or Berlin (1 hour). You can make trips by bike to the near monastery Chorin or to one of the beautiful lakes around.
What is probably important for you as well: as we live out in the sticks, there are no shops or pubs around. The distance to the village of Golzow is 2 km. There you can buy eggs and honey and visit the church :) The next supermarket and bakery is about 4 km away.
We are looking forward to welcome one ore two volunteers in spring, summer or autumn. Feel free to contact us if you are interested or have any questions.
Hope to see you soon, Anke and Christian
