    URGENT ! URGENT ! URGENT !

"A stranger is just a friend you don't know yet."

    Hi everybody !

This time, the situation is both urgent and exceptional, and our request is highly specific : it is essential that you read the entire description carefully and that you are a perfect match for our needs, as this is not something that can be improvised unless it is in your blood ;-) . Please note we need someone from NOW on (at the very latest on Thursday 23th of July) and for MINIMUM 2 weeks, 3 even better , maybe more if you feel like it.

I’m Roxane, and I’ve just returned from the hospital ; I’m confined to a brace and can only manage a few steps at a time, or use a wheelchair for longer outings. I fractured a vertebra and suffered a double compression fracture in my lumbar spine during a fall—fortunately without damaging my spinal cord. However, to avoid worsening the injury and to hope for a full recovery within a few weeks, I must strictly follow the doctors' orders. Consequently, there are a host of everyday activities that are off-limits to me.

My partner, David, is due to undergo a long-planned laser procedure on his cervical spine on July 24th. Afterward, although he's looking strong and valid, he will need to observe a period of total rest for one to two weeks, followed by another one or two weeks of avoiding any physical exertion.
From now, he's got only a few days left before the surgery, and despite the heat, he needs to take some advence in the garden and other maintening works before he gets obliged to stop. Having already someone to look after me while he's busy with that might help too !

As you see, we need help as soon as possible !
We need assistance with a variety of essential—though sometimes mundane—daily tasks. These include preparing meals, setting and clearing the table, loading and running the dishwasher, cleaning the sink and stove, fetching items from another room or upstairs, driving us (in our car) to doctor or physical therapy appointments and accompanying us on errands, doing the laundry and hanging it out to dry, feeding the dog and cat, watering the plants inside and sometimes in the garden—with a garden hose— and so on ...

We are therefore looking for someone with the soul and instincts of a caregiver ! Someone enthusiastic and joyful, who is dedicated, empathetic, and attentive to our needs—someone willing to step in and help spontaneously with obvious, recurring tasks, without us having to ask every single time, because we're not used and don't like to beg ... AND you'll need to be owner of a driver's license (valid in France).

Please, understand we are not in search of a slave ! We are very respectful people, simply currently disabled. For you, being capable of performing each of the requested tasks does not mean we will take advantage of the situation by asking you to do everything, all the time. There are things I—or we—might be able to help you with, within the limits of our means and physical condition of the moment ; for instance, helping to prepare meals by peeling and chopping vegetables, getting ourselves a drink, or other "light" things like that ...
On top of that, we are hiring someone who's mowing the huge garden when needed, and someone who's cleaning the house every week, so that's not part of what we expect from you ;-)

You might also want to know that we are lazy enough to get up quite late, take time to "brunch" as late as 11 AM or even noon sometimes. We then only have dinner at night, between 8:30 and 10 PM.
But of course you can get up earlier than us, have breakfast and do whatever you like in the morning, and of course have a lunch if that's in your habits. We provide all necessary food for breakfast and lunch but you just help yourself.

After dinner and clearing, we share a good time together, redoing the world, play cards or other games, or just chill out while listening to a large range of very varied musics ... that one can accompany with his own instrument ! Too bad, as a guitarist, David won't be allowed to play for a while ...

To put your mind at ease, please note that, since 2012, David and I have welcomed, through different websites, about nearly 60 volunteers helping us with several types of work, and it's been a great experience for both them and us ! We kept contact with many of them, some became close friends and came back especially to meet us again. Please check the feedbacks, you’ll be conquered ;-)

If you recognise yourself in that description, please write to us ASAP ! Yesterday even better ;-)

    Thank's for reading this.

    Greetings 😉

    Roxane & David.

We do speak fluently English, but or mother tongue is French, and we will be happy to help you learning some bases.

Our house looks like a proper museum, full of ethnic objects that we brought back from travels, or from ... flea markets 😉, where we will be happy to go with you to, if you like it, mostly on Sundays. Anyway, many of those objects remind us nice stories we’ll be happy to share.

We do love all musics of the world (David is rock guitarist) and we have a huge range of choice to make you discover. From Tibetan horns, to Greek Rebetiko, passing by Queens Of The Stone Age, Sergei Prokofiev, or Chuck Berry ...

Our way of life is, let's say, unusual, mostly based on a Carpe Diem philosophy ... Have a look at our feedbacks, you'll see what people remember from their stay in beautiful Cassaet house 😎

  • Help

    Help

It won't be priority this time, but we might also need help for a few little works in the garden, like spreading straw around some plants that need to be protected, trimming a few branches ...

Some garden terraces and furnitures may also need to be repaired and/or sanded and painted, but again, probably not relevant this time, unless you really feel like it :-D

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our place is quite remote. Beautiful surroundings to discover, but no public transport.
Hiking, cycling, breathing the nature's perfumes, enjoy the peace, meditate : so many things to do here !
First shops, supermarket, bakery, doctors, pharmacy, movie, golf course are 9km away.
The city of Auch (train station, movies, bars, swimming pool, Mc Do , theater...) is nearly 30km away, and Toulouse (airport) 90km.

You will have to walk 80km down south to reach the first mountains of Pyrenees :-) that sometimes appear in our sight, impressive, as a stunning scenery between earth and sky ...

Something important for us : we have a cute and nice dog and a lovely cuddling cat that loves to sometimes lie on one's lap ... So if you're allergic or don't like pets, this will probably be a problem.

    Peanut (10 years)

A tiny, very independent yet sociable cat, she spends most of her time outdoors and comes inside whenever she likes (she has a cat flap). She is usually very talkative when she does. She isn't skittish, though she is wary of people who are moving around; however, if you are sitting down, she might just jump onto your lap to ask for a cuddle. Lucien the dog is her best friend.

    Lucien (11 years)

Coolest dog ever, very emotional, never agressive, always happy when people are visiting and when seeing new faces (even though he might bark at first, just to warn us). He listen very well and will enjoy a walk with you between the fields. The only thing is that he's completely unaware of the dangers of the road, sitting and staring at cars coming towards him. That's why we go off roads, otherwise we need to keep him on a leash—something he accepts readily and without pulling—but it’s less fun.
Peanut the cat is his best friend.
