    Description

Hello! We are Gemma and Brad and our 8 year old son A. We live right here on the Kanamaluka (Tamar) river in Tamar Valley about 25 minutes North of Launceston, with our small dog, pretty chickens that lay rainbow eggs and bees.

We have a small block on the river and an interest in regen, permaculture and biological practices - although we are right at the beginning our our journey. We are slowly increasing the diveristy of plants and wildlife in our garden, as well as fruit and vege gardening.

We are looking for a single or couple, and given we have a small person, we would value those who have experience with kids.

You would have your own room and food, in exchange for 3-5 hours daily work that could be flexible and varied. The types of help we are looking for will be varied and seasonal, ranging from help with gardening and handyperson type jobs - building garden beds, pruning, weeding, composting, firewood, small landscaping tasks etc, to interior decorating and general household tasks

Brad and I have travelled and lived in lots of different places around the world. Although we don't travel as much at the moment, we love the idea of meeting and sharing with others around the world. We love a good laugh and a chat, and you will love sitting on our deck (or hot tub) and watching the sunset at the end of the day!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There are lots of opportunities to experience our local community - from school events, to our community events. We are physiotherapists, and run a free exercise program on the weekends. We would be happy to share our knowledge with you if appropriate.

We are right on the doorstep of award winning wine and distilleries.
We love to walk and hike, and would be more than happy to share this with you, as well as our knowledge of the best things to see and do in Tassie.

We have bikes, paddleboard and kayak that you are welcome to borrow while you are here. Just walk across the road to the river to launch!

We would love for you to join us for evening meals, to be members of our family while you are visiting :)

We would love to hear the stories of where you are from, and what you love about your home. Perhaps you can teach us some of your language while you are here. Any home cooked favourites that you would like to share with use would also be welcome.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is heaps to do and see locally, and within a 2-3 hour drive. While your own transport is not essential, it would be beneficial

Public transport is available in and out of launnie twice a day right outside our door, and we are often going in for work.

But to access some of the wineries, walks and hikes and day trips, having a car would definitely make things easier.

Please note, we are a non-smoking house :)
