    * Just back online after 2 years away... sorry for all the missed messages! Cancer sucks. *

Hiya! We're a little family on an acre in a rural beach town on the Sunshine Coast of BC! We have a big, brand new 2-bedroom RV just for you - kind of like your own house! We're in a gorgeous area of the world, and happy to share in exchange for help with the property and some building, cleaning, painting and organizing projects!

OUR AREA: Roberts Creek and the Sunshine Coast is a westcoast haven of ocean-loving artists, fishermen, and nature-minded folk. It's a hot spot for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and paddleboarding into westcoast sunsets. We are a large mainland peninsula accessed by a 40 minute ferry from Vancouver, so although we feel like an island, we're only an hour from Vancouver. We're a one acre property in a forested rural community of small acreages in the heart of Roberts Creek - a block to beach, pier, general store, cafe, restaurant, stores, yoga studio, and more. We are on a bus route, with buses that can get you to all the amenities of nearby large towns of Sechelt or Gibsons - 10 minute drive or 20-30 minute bus ride.

OUR FAMILY & OUR WORK: Small family with two teens, big dog and a cat. We have LOTS of projects around the property, fixing up a workshop into a creative space, completing renovations on the main house, wanting to renovate a little shed into a tiny home, and clear up the land and gardens. Mom also runs a local non-profit Society focused on food security, homesteading, gardening, farming, and sustainability, so any interest in learning, teaching, or being involved in this would be welcome. Along with this are many events, managing community gardens, running farm-to-table dinners, and working with grant-writing, governance, and capacity building of a Canadian Charity.

We likely don't have much time to be social and hang out except for the work projects... w3

Roberts Creek, the Sunshine Coast and western Canada in general are extraordinary. Towering forests, vasts oceans, beautiful islands, and wildlife make this place really special. Bears, deer, elk and cougars live among us. Guests to this area learn an appreciation for the connection to nature, the earth, art, and what really matters in life... getting out of the hamster wheel of urban society and connected to space, release, creativity, heart and the earth.

Learn whatever it is you are open to learning. Ask questions. Become the teacher yourself. The world is at your doorstep.

PROJECTS: Current ideas for now - Maybe a couple of these interest you?

Construction/Renovations and yard work are my top requests right now! Also...
Music (Guitar, piano or singing) - lessons for a teen? play for the community?
Gardens & trees - plant, compost, weed, clear, prune, etc.
Fences - build fencing and gates
Workshop - Help organize a creative workshop! Build shelving, install cabinets, etc.
General - pressure wash, build, paint, plumb, brush clearing, dump runs, & move stuff
Food - make meals, enough for the freezer; help with preservation of bounty (canning, dehydrating, etc)
    Housecleaning maybe?

We're a haven for tourism and in a housing crisis, so this has been a hard choice as to what to do with this beautiful RV... we hope that trading for help is the right choice!

LENGTH OF STAY: You're welcome to stay for a couple of nights, weeks or months depending on how things are rolling and the work at hand. One of our favourite guests came for two weeks, and stayed for two years! It's all about lifestyle, wishes, and match!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

ROOM: You have your own 2-bedroom RV. It's brand new and high end, so respecting and caring for this space is very important! If you are travelling alone, you may share this RV with another workawayer (in the other bedroom).

FOOD: Breakfast & lunch provided: Baked goods, fruit, coffee, tea are provided. Generally, dinner is your responsibility - there are grocery stores, cafes, and great restaurants locally. At times, dinner may be provided or shared, depending on family situation and timing. Help cooking is always appreciated if it's your thing!

After many years of vegetarianism, we eat all sorts of foods including meat now when we can source from local farms or grow it ourselves. We are not realistically able to accommodate a vegan diet.
