Description
We are looking for volunteers to work with us on projects around our house and grounds. Genet is a large and characterful property that was once a farm - surrounded by wooded hills and fields in north Dordogne, with far-reaching views it provides a comfortable and tranquil place to work and escape. We have lived here for several years having moved here because we love french culture, a layed back life style and many hours of sunshine! We had a dream to buy a French property, renovate it, eat good food, drink excellent wine and enjoy ourserlves and we're doing just that! Perhaps you would like to join us for a while and enjoy the same things?
We are easy going, love good food, relatively energetic and work together on the many projects in and around our home. We have done a lot but there is always plenty more to do. We have hosted volunteer Workawayers for the last 3 years and really enjoyed their company, their ideas and the progress made. We provide 3 meals a day, (we will provide the food for you will make your own breakfast and lunch) and we will cook an evening meal; a comfotable bed and en-suite, lifts to local events and use of our facilities. The work can be adapted to suit your skills from DIY and general upkeep to renovation projects. This year we hope to do some lime rendering to the outside, build a wall, refurbish a bathroom and decorate a bedroom amongst other things. Our vegetable garden always needs tending and using the sit on mower is always enjoyable! We can give you your own project to complete over time or you can work on different projects each day as you prefer. If you can help, have usable skills, like to learn new ones and enjoy some physical work then this could be the place for you.
We are located in the Périgord and this means lots of local foods and delicacies to try. You will be spoilt for choice by nearby restaurants, bistros and bars. The river Dronne provides canoeing, beaches and walks. The area is good for photography, painting, horse riding, archery and exploring. Riberac has large a weekly market and Verteillac a monthly brocante and smaller weekly produce market.
We have a cat (Indy) and small dog (Milly) who will sit looking at you in the hope you will throw the ball for her. If you do, she'll love you forever!
We hope you like the sound of us and our home. We look forward to welcoming you.Types of help and learning opportunities

En suite room with king size bed , open views across the fields. Use of garden, deck, pizza oven, BBQ, above ground pool ( depending on time of year) table tennis, table football. We have a range of bicycles available including 2 electric. The immediate area has many quiet lanes and cycle ways. We would provide meals but happy for people to use the facilities to cook for themselves. Couples welcome.
What else ...
Public transport is very limited but there are 3 villages and one small market town (Riberac) within cycling distance, made all the easier if using an electric cycle ! We would be happy to offer occasional lifts for further a field.
