Description
This is an independent hub that focuses on the study, research and promotion of the Lucanian Apennines and Basilicata. The main activities are the promotion of slow and sustainable tourism, naturalistic and humanistic research, dissemination and environmental education, maintenance and management of natural areas, conservation and environmental protection.
We are looking for volunteers for various planned activities. In cooperation with other partners, we offer hospitality in the following contexts:
1. Helping in mountain refuge: since 2020 we have been managing a refuge, a beautiful structure in the Lucanian Apennines National Park, where we are involved in nature conservation and outdoor activities. We are also one of the recognised European center of mammals research.
2. Helping in a botanical park: the only botanical park in Basilicata, where the study of plants and insects and the promotion of cultural activities are proposed.
3. Helping in a horse area: an organisation dedicated to promoting tourism in the National Park through hiking with horses and donkeys.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Guests will learn how to run an enviromental/ecotourist organization. He/she will also learn from and collaborate in naturalistic research, wildlife monitoring, hiking trail and mapping activities, co-guide for horseback riding excursions, management of botanical gardens, care of insectaria and herbaria, care of farm animals.
During his stay, the guest will also learn to recognise the wildlife and flora of the Apennines, the life in the mountains, the traditions of Lucania and the methods of environmental education.
Help
We are looking for people who can help with the daily management of a mountain center in the Lucanian Apennines National Park, of botanical park and horse area.
The help required are: reception guests and hikers, cleaning and accommodation of the structure and support in general management and activities.
Guests will only help in the daily running. They will not prepare food for the guests.

Accommodation
Guest will have a shared room.
The guest will learn about the culinary tradition of Basilicata and will be able to contribute his knowledge. All help here is voluntary, as the aim is to make this part of the Park more usable.
We will offer two meals daily, or the ingredient to make them.

The centers are immersed in the Lucanian Apennines in Basilicata. In his free time the guest can go trekking, mountain biking or visiting Basilicata.
