    Description

Hi, I'm Miriam. Me and my family are looking for a female caring for our granny. She has dementia and can't be alone at home. Therefore, we are looking for company for her, who's doing the household, groceries for her and just be with her for a few hours a day. She lives in a house with my parents. Also my sister and I are coming for a visit regularly.
My granny only speaks German, so at least you should be able to already speak a few words.

My granny came from Jugoslavia and only speaks German, which means there is no other way than speaking German with her. She lives in a house with my parents, who speak German, English, Arabic, a little Italian and French. There is a lot of culture in one house. I also speak English since i study it. I will be home every now and then. My dad and I are very muscial, if you want to jam with us. My sister and mom are very creative and love doing diy stuff, drawing, designing etc., if you feel the need to do handicrafts.

    Help

As my granny has dementia, her care needs a lot of attention like preparing meals, getting groceries, checking on her hydration, checking on her well being regularly, checking on her hygiene and playing games with her. Since her husband passed away recently and she forgets it a lot of times a day, we're looking for someone who's mentally stable enough to endure it, who is patient and still able to make her laugh. We especially need a "babysitter" for her, when my mom and dad are at work. This will include 5 hours a day from Monday to Friday. The weekend will be off.

My granny always wanted to learn English or is interested in any other languages. She will probably not be the best learner as she forgets it right away, but it will be a nice exercise for her.

    Accommodation

You are staying at my granny's home. You have your own room and bathroom. The kitchen will be shared with my granny, but since she's not cooking anymore, it's all yours. For breakfast she mostly eats sandwiches. You also have to prepare lunch and dinner, but it doesn't have to be necessarily cooked twice. It would be nice for her to have some company during lunch and dinner, but it is not a must to do so.

    What else ...

There is also some nice paths to walk, a grocery store and a bus/ train connection to bigger cities like Pforzheim, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. I live in Jockgrim (20 minutes drive to Karlsruhe or 40 minutes by train). So there is a possibility to stay at my apartment for the weekend to go out or go shopping.

The wifi connection on the upper floor is not the best. We sometimes use an amplifier for it, if someone works remotely. The connection is better on the middle floor, where my granny lives, or in the basement, where my parents live.

    Can possibly accept pets

A cat or a dog should be fine. My granny is not a big fan of pets, but since we had cats, rabbits etc. she doesn't mind them. Maybe she would even like it nowadays to have pets around the house. But the rest of the family loves pets, so just ask about it.
