    Description

    We are a family of artists in search of a deeper truth through painting, storytelling and self enquiry. We believe in a good and loving Universe. I believe we are all connected and here for a higher purpose. We live a peaceful and simple life in Buzau Mountains, Romania, being passionate about art, nature, psychology and good life.
    A beautiful and still serene landscape, with small villages, among hills and forests. Valea Buzaului is to be discovered, still traditional and wild, a place where one can search for its own meaning and can reflect clearly one's soul.     We manage an art center (Alunis Art Center) and a social community economical project in one of the villages nearby. Help is needed:
    - pottery workshop (we provide free of charge pottery classes for all children in the area, please see bellow the detailed description)
    - organic agriculture (we just started a school garden)
    - Baby sitting will be an amazing help (our son is 4 year old)

    Pottery Classes details:
    We are a NGO run small pottery studio in Alunis Romania and we are looking for ceramicists, preferably with teaching experience to join our team at the art center. Our peak season is June and September 2023 and most of our workshops are short courses (1-3 sessions, 1-2.5 hours each). You will also get to develop your own body of work in our studio with our materials and facilities, with an opportunity to exhibit your work locally. We will also provide you with accommodation(with heating) and 3 meals, and complimentary programs we offer (i.e. yoga).

    Facilities and materials:
    - 1x Electric kiln
    - 2x Shimpo electric wheels
    - 2x Wedging plaster slabs
    - Sink with clay trap
    - Unlimited use of clay, oxides, pigments and glazes
    - Pottery tools and materials
    - Slab roller
    - Pottery plaster for mould making
    - Bats
    - 3x banding wheels
    - 1x wall mounted extruder
    - Additional materials may be requested

    Responsibilities:
    - Recycling studio’s B-mix
    - Wedging and portioning clay for workshops
    - Keeping the studio clean, labelled and organised
    - Conducting creative clay arts workshops for children and adults
    - Designing your own workshop programs (hand building or sculpting)
    - Wheel taster workshops (optional)
    - Making glaze test tiles with different clay and glaze combinations for the studio
    - Studio inventory management

    Requirements:
    - Knowledge and experience in hand building is a must (coil, pinch, hollowing and slab)
    - Knowledge in wheel throwing and sculpting is a bonus. We do not offer throwing courses.
    - Able to work with children and adults
    - Self motivated and communicative
    - Aware of and understand responsible and environmentally conscious ceramics practices (Responsible firing, minimise wastage, etc)
    - Takes initiative to improve our studio setup and creative clay arts programs
    - Understanding kiln care practices (kiln wash, cookies or bowls to catch glaze, etc)
    - Must be able to speak fluent Romanian and/or English
    - We accept local and international applicants

    Starting 2021, help is needed in running Community Art Center in the village (client service, tours, events). It is a local NGO, aiming to develop this rural area through art events, cultural exchange and to revive local traditions.

    Single bedroom or shared bedroom (depends on availability), shared bathroom. Shared meals, mostly vegetarian (fish sometimes). Most food here is provided by locals, clean and healthy vegetables. Help with cooking and housing in genereal is expected. I see it more like a shared, nice experience.

    Local activities include nature walks, waterfalls visiting, swimming in Buzau river or Siriu Lake, hiking in the mountains, amber discovery (natural mine sight). Art is always an option since I paint and can provide all materials necessary. Also, there are hermits caves in the area which can be visited.
