    Description

Our NGO was established through the efforts of journalists in Mbeya caused by issues pertaining to women, children, youth, disabled and the elderly found by them while executing their daily duties. In a bid to accomplish their duties of searching and distribution of media issues the Founders of this organization get an opportunity of reaching other areas in which are villages where they witness a multitude of community problems. Through this they found that there was a gap that could not be filled through writing issues for the media only and therefore found that it was important to establish this organization. Among the challenges that forced the establishment of this organization were:

    • The perpetuation of poverty due to poor quality of education amongst citizens those living in villages despite the government having set a side a budget for development projects for poverty alleviation.

    • This confirms that there has been irresponsibility on the part of the community and the government leaders.

    • Services provided by organizations (NGOs and CBOs) focus on urban areas leaving men ,women, youth and children needs unattended in rural areas (villages).

    • Due to lack of good governance, the citizens have failed to participate effectively in carrying out developmental programmes and in making their leaders accountable.

    • In other rural areas, men domination has left women a side and therefore has deprived them opportunities of participating effectively in meetings and in village decision making and their arguments and upper ranking issues miss chance of being incorporated into development programmes. Equally the same women are left behind in contesting leadership posts even those for development in their villages such as water, education, and HIV and AIDS.

    • Boys and girls become demoralized about life in villages thus resort to go to urban areas as a result of lack of classroom education and entrepreneurship skills that could remove them from poverty through investments that surround them such as land and other opportunities.

    • A big group of children who are the future leaders have lost expectations. Some of them are missing opportunities for education due to their parents ignoring the importance of education; some are used to be employed in large estates, engage in carrying heavy loads, herding cattle, domestic employment which affects them psychologically. Likewise orphans whose numbers are increase due to effects of HIV and AIDS have been left unattended.

The way forward for the Organization.

We have prepared ourself to be the pioneer for the community and other stakeholders in a bid to confront the challenges and determines to do the following:

To foster cooperation with stakeholders(Faith based Organizations, CBOs /NGOs) in our activities and District Councils, Wards and villages/hamlets in our activities for the purpose of providing services benefiting the community of the organization easily.

To sensitize women and youth to take action in developing plans for development and the utilization of their investments through legitimate meetings.

To elaborate, interpret different policies and laws that concern women, Children and youth so that they are easy to be understood, being used and implemented by the community.

To organize trainings, seminars, workshops for incapacitating women and youth for development, build a culture of self reliance, health and family planning.

To use the services of journalists and other consultants in doing research work and to come up with findings about the problems facing women, children and youth for the purpose of giving assistance through community education via mass media organs such as TV, newspapers, Radio, journals, networks by e-mails, blogs and brochures.

To organize dialogues and various debates for the purpose of fostering faithfulness and accountability of the District Councils in order to improve their services.

    Activities
    • To do research concerning source poverty of the community with a focus in villages in Mbeya region for the purpose of looking for its solution.

    • To sensitize the community in environmental conservation as a top priority.

    • To go through other research work and find out areas that are affected by poverty for the purpose of helping those affected especially women and children and youth.

    • To help children stricken by poverty for the purpose of making they perform better in schools.

    • To provide services that prevents youth in schools to be discontinued due to lack of resources, involvement in criminal acts and incidences of pregnancies whose parents’ incomes are low.

    • To educate families that do not invest in education for their children for hazards that will come about due to lack of education of their children in terms of health, income.

    • To identify and provide assistance to children in schools who shows signs of failing at the end of the school life for the purpose of making them improve in understanding what is taught and thereafter become able in classes for their future well being.

    • To identify children and youth who need services for psychosocial education, food, health, shelter for providing them with respective services and referrals.

    Child Abuse
Places where poverty is rampant, there are many child abuse cases. Due to this children are not regular in classes, loose urge for schooling due to having no certainty of getting food when they get home. This is a case that will be given priority in our programme.

    Long-term effects
    • Effects of poverty to children include:
    • Unhealthy state during birth, malnutrition, improper care, susceptibility to contracting communicable diseases during birth such as asthma.

    • Shortage of food for low income earners, divorce, death, and loss of jobs.

    • School dropouts that forces labour for under 14 years, drug addiction, engaging in drinking.
    • Havazard spending due to lack of budgets for expenditures in households.

    • Increased effects caused by natural disasters and environmental conservation at all levels due to lack of skills to confront them.
