Description
We are a couple living in a lovely part of Extremadura a largely rural area but our garden is a project towards autonomy that we hope you can help us with. It's not a business as we don't sell any of the things we produce but we want to be able to feed ourselves and our guests with natural, fully organic produce. Giovanna is Italian and Noel is Irish, we have 2.5 hectares of land which includes spray free woodland, olive and orange trees and we are trying to develop a food forest using permaculture techniques. The accommodation properties consist of a large barn where we live, and two small detached cottages. We are also off-grid with water and solar power to all buildings. Our project is to develop a 100% auto sufficient environment in harmony with nature. We have a cat called Tigre who thinks he is the boss :) in fact he is:))
This is the reason why we need to be careful about having other pets or children around but we also have an unfenced pond and long open ditch running across the property.
Our interests include gardening, animal care, olive oil production, art, music, learning from nature to recognise and use natural plants for health, holistic therapies and sound healing.
We live in the remote and relaxing countryside in the province of Badajoz 10 min.drive to Feria, a lovely town with a castle in the hill which has small shops, bars and a nice swimming pool, and 20 min.drive to Zafra a very pretty small city which offers all services such as hospitals, dentists, supermarkets, swimming pools, hotels, restaurants, theatre etc.
*We are omnivorous but we respect the choices of others as their preferences. We don't smoke or use drugs either, we would prefer people like us or if smokers outside only please. Alcohol also in moderation please.
The environment is not designed to be safe for children because we have a ditch and a pond so we would prefer adult couples only.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We speak fluent Italian and English, and have an average understanding in Spanish. We hope visitors will enjoy helping us around the farm and bring their skills and knowledge to improve our autonomy whilst learning about permaculture techniques and spray free organic gardening. Most of the construction work is now completed but things are always needing to be repaired, maintained or improved as we adapt our knowledge and skills to the needs of our selves and our guests.
Help
We would like help with planting and preparing the ground for food, redecorating, caring for the land and trees which we don't spray with chemicals. If you have knowledge of permaculture and medical herbs that would be appreciated. House sitting would help too once we know you better :)

We have two small self contained cottages and two caravans with all comforts necessary, we also have plenty of space for parking, caravans, campervans or tents.
You can have your own kitchen to prepare food in your accomodation and if you wish sometimes to share with us we have plenty of space in our barn including the patio where we love to cook and have meals outside in the lovely weather. We provide the seasonal organic food from our garden and supermarket too. What else ...
The area where we live is remote but it is also part of the 'Camino de la Plata' which connects to the famous 'Camino de Santiago' where many pilgrims walk. Also our camino is used for many sports such as rallies, tracking, cycling or bird spotting. After the rain it often needs to be refilled, usually the council provides the service once a year, but if we need it done urgently we provide our own, so this could be one of the works we ask to be done in order to have safety driving. There isn't public transport nearby but you can take a taxi to reach Zafra where you can find coach and train stations from where you can go to visit a famous roman amphitheater in Merida. The nearest international airport is in Seville or a national one is in Badajoz which is our Province and is around 45 min distance from us .The spare time off can be arranged personally.
