  Hello,
  I am Luz, a woman in my fifties and living in the beautiful village of Ernes since 30 years. Ernes is situated in Negueira de Muñiz, province of Lugo, Galicia, Spain. It is a village that was abandoned in 1958 because a large lake was built to generate electricity. In the 80s, young people dreamed of values such as recovering cultural heritage, living in community, preserving the territory, defending ecology, food and health, etc.. There is a lot going on in the village because there are several projects: the neighborhood association and others.
  I do have a big organic vegetable garden and kiwi plantation.

  Soy Luz, una mujer de unos cincuenta años que vive en el hermoso pueblo de Ernes desde hace 30 años. Ernes es un pueblo que está en el ayuntamiento de Negueira de Muñiz dentro de la provincia de Lugo en Galicia. Es un pueblo que ha quedado abandonado en los años 1958, por la construcción de un embalse. . El entorno es muy bonito, rico en biodiversidad. Ha sido repoblado por gente soñando con valores como recuperación de patrimonio de bien interés cultural, vida en comunidad, custodia de territorio , defender la ecología, cuidar la alimentación, salud etc...En el pueblo hay varios proyectos, está la asociación de veciñes y otros...
  Tengo un gran huerto ecológico y una plantación de kiwis.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  Living in nature, living in the community, (connecting with the people in the village and the villages in the neighborhood, some of them without electricity and even without road access :) ) Learning languages, working on the land, maintaining machines and tools, processing vegetables and fruits, collecting vegetables and fruits, bio-construction, cleaning work, pruning trees, etc. Due to the isolation of the village for many years, I can share some knowledge about self-sufficiency and a simple lifestyle.

  Aprender idiomas, trabajar la tierra, mantener máquinas y herramientas, procesar verduras y frutas, recolectar verduras y frutas, bioconstrucción, trabajos de limpieza, poda de árboles, etc. Debido al aislamiento de la aldea durante muchos años, puedo compartir algunos conocimientos sobre la autosuficiencia y un estilo de vida sencillo.

  Help

  We need help in the village to rebuild dry walls, and rebuilding houses, help to prepare the firewood for the winter.
  Also help in the vegetable garden to have food all year round.
  You may have to work longer on some days, or at weekends, but then you will have other days off. On the days when we work longer, we organize breakfast, lunch and dinner together.
  Dinner on other days should be organized by yourself, you can take vegetables from the garden.
  
  Necesitamos ayuda en el pueblo para reconstruir paredes secas, y reconstruir casas, ayuda para preparar la leña para el invierno.
  También ayuda en el huerto para tener comida todo el año.
  Puede que algunos días tengas que trabajar más tiempo, o los fines de semana, pero luego tendrás otros días libres. Los días que trabajamos más, organizamos juntos el desayuno, la comida y la cena.
  La cena de los demás días debes organizarla tú mismo, puedes coger verduras del huerto.

  Accommodation

  During summer the place to stay is the old schoolbuilding (socialhouse of the village) where you can sleep and cook.
  In wintertime, we will share the same house.
  
  En verano, el lugar de alojamiento es el antiguo edificio de la escuela (casa social del pueblo), donde se puede dormir y cocinar. En invierno, compartiremos la misma casa.

  What else ...

  The environment is very attractive to walk around in the mountains (the highest mountain has 1200m), the lake is close to swim and go by canoe, there is much social life and there are also young people and children... we are very isolated, so there is no public transport and no shop (the closest shop is one hour drive away)!!! The landscape is very steep, the life is hard! There is a lot of work to do, it´s very physical, so you can become strong ;) It´s a repoblation of the village, adapting at our nowaday lifestyle!!! In summertime it´s very hot, so to work you have to get up early and in the afternoon you can refresh in the lake, and in wintertime it will become very cold.
  
  El entorno es muy atractivo para pasear por las montañas (la montaña más alta tiene 1200m), el lago está cerca para nadar e ir en canoa, hay mucha vida social y también hay gente joven y niños... ¡¡¡estamos muy aislados, por lo que no hay transporte público ni tiendas (la tienda más cercana está a una hora en coche)!!! El paisaje es muy escarpado, ¡la vida es dura! Hay mucho trabajo que hacer, es muy físico, así que puedes llegar a ser fuerte ;) Es una repoblación del pueblo, adaptándose a nuestro estilo de vida actual. En verano hace mucho calor, así que para trabajar tienes que levantarte temprano y por la tarde puedes refrescarte en el lago, y en invierno hace mucho frío.

  Here in the village there are many free-roaming dogs, cows, cats and sometimes donkeys. That's why only animals that are well behaved and get along with other animals are welcome. They would also to have to sleep outside. Aquí en el pueblo hay muchos perros, vacas, gatos y a veces burros sueltos. Por eso sólo se admiten animales que se porten bien y se lleven bien con otros animales. También tendrían que dormir fuera.
