Enjoy all that Waiheke Island has to offer on our conveniently central 9 acres of land. The bus stop is just a ten minute walk from our home allowing you to easily explore the village, gorgeous beaches and more. If a retreat from the busy world and a connection to nature is what you are seeking we have plenty of that on offer on our stunning, tranquil and spacious land that we share with plenty of native birds such as Tui, Kereru and Kaka.
We are a family of five that aspire to live a more simple life. We are spread out through the main house and a number of smaller dwellings, so among the hustle and bustle of family life there is also always opportunity for space. You will stay in either the small but cosy spare room in the main house, it has a queen size bed, a wardrobe for hanging your clothes and plenty of sun or the caravan nearby with a double bed, a bit more privacy, space and plenty of storage.
The farm has been spray free for 30 years but is not yet certified organic, there are a variety of fruit trees - olives, plums, citrus, apples and more, a vegetable garden, and a mix of native and non native bush. We are currently in the early stages of the planning and implementing of an exciting permaculture vision including the removal of invasive pest plants and the regeneration of natives including planting for the streams and ponds to restore optimum water health, a yurt for the family, a natural swimming pool and more!
The exchange is five hours a day five days a week for accommodation and food. Dinners will be cooked (though from time to time I might want a night off and either we all help ourselves or you can show off your cooking skills!) and food will be provided for breakfast and lunch. We eat a mixture or vegan, vegetarian and a small amount of meat so most diets will be covered.
I just want to make clear that previous feedback is from when there was someone else living in the main house and managing the guests, the situation is very different now, the main house is a family home, guests are not in a dorm room, but in either a tidy caravan nearby or the sunny spare room, we respect our guests privacy and while we are a very busy family we do our best to feel welcoming :)
