    Description

Kia Ora! I am Lyndsey, often called Lenni, and I live with a lovely CollieX called Talulah. I have just moved onto an amazing piece of land covering 1.5ha (3.7ac), sort of a blank canvas at present - which is exciting! Close by are the quaint communities of Waikouaiti & Karitane - both have interesting histories and beautiful beaches. I am looking to crank up the glasshouse, host a few sheep, and create a couple of welcoming sleepout/studio spaces, as well as numerous other visions... I like to be outdoors, learn about people and places, and have a bloody good time in this life.

I look forward to adding to this section as I learn more about the community. From my past experiences in the East Otago area, I know there are many types of cultural groups/activities you can get involved with, including planting project's, Kati Huirapa Runaka ki (puketerapi.nz), wood turning, creative artisans, Tai chi, garden clubs, bowling clubs..and line dancing to name a few!!
I love to learn about where people have come from, who they are, and hear their stories. Aotearoa is quite remote, so learning about the similarities and differences in how the rest of the world lives/views things are important to me, in helping me to continually grow and consider life.
People feel able to be themselves in my company, right from the get-go I create a friendly space that allows people to feel comfortable within themselves, to not worry what others might think and to be able to relax. I don’t know how I do it ( probably cos I love a laugh and life is short, right?) but it is feedback I have had many times!

The types of activities/jobs I’m needing help with are not heavy things, for example; at the moment I’m clearing around the edges of the roading/gutters here, sweeping, general tidying up of the property, and starting to prepare the glass house. The ‘Crib’ (main dwelling) is mostly set up but might need some help reshuffling furniture as it will be getting carpeted. There might be potential to help with some fencing that I’m hoping to get done in the next couple of months, and also, making the two paddocks sheep proof! And if you want to use the ride-on mower, you’re welcome - heaps of fun! Any skills welcome 🤗

    Accommodation

At present there are a few choices - the main cabin has two bedrooms; or it may be someone stays in one of the two sleepouts. I haven’t yet decided on where will be available, but I can promise it will be warm, well furnished with a great bed/bedding. The option to camp under the stars is also there, I have a couple of tents and comfy mattresses etc.
I have a wifi modem so the internet isn’t amazingly fast, but it does the job !

I tend to be pretty slack with organising meals, but if someone likes to cook that could be part of the plan! I also organise meal-kits and sharing the cooking could work, depends on what works for all people!

    What else ...

I live pretty simply, I travel to town sometimes for work, or I wfh. I enjoy time with my dog, people, and my self.
There are buses to town 2-3x day (approx 30min drive), there may be potential of a loan car as the two nearest villages are better accessed with a car. The village where I live has an indoor pool which you’d be welcome to use 24-7!
