Description
Greetings! We are an American couple with a two-and-a-half year old son living near the beach in Malaga, Spain. Juan is originally from Colombia, and Karen is from the southern US. We recently relocated from Washington, DC to Spain and are seeking help around the house walking our dog in the morning and then with cooking, cleaning, and some occasional backup babysitting and child care. (We are also open to having you help with some errands and administrative tasks instead of babysitting!) We did Workaway in the past (as volunteers) during a pre-COVID (and pre-baby!) round-the-world trip, and it was such a wonderful experience and we are excited to now be able to host.

Language: We both speak fluent Spanish and English and are happy to help with either language. We often talk to our son in both languages and could adapt so that you can learn your preferred language.
Culture: Malaga is one of the world's oldest cities, and living here, it feels like there is a different festival every week. There are museums and music venues within walking distance from where you will be staying. We are also very close to the airport (maybe 5-10 minutes driving) which is also a big hub for travel if you want to check out other places by plane on the weekends, or rent a cheap car and explore other amazing destinations in Costa del Sol.Au Pair Help

Help
You would walk our adorable 6 year old shepard mix dog in the morning, and then afterwards help us around the apartment. Our current workawayer usually walks the dog on the beach (it's only a few blocks away) then cleans around the apartment makes us tasty meals (for a total of five hours a day max, only on weekdays). She watches our son about once a week for a few hours. We are now looking for someone to start in May and stay for at least 2 months, i.e. May and June (ideally three, until the end of July!) and if they want, they can also stay on to help petsit for us while we are away in August (not required). We are open to discussing the specific arrangement with the right person, but our general vision is - depending on the person and length of stay - walking the dog, cleaning, and providing us enough meals for lunch and dinner (you could cook only a few times, we are happy to repeat meals!) during the week. On some days you may not have to clean or cook, and then we would love to have you watch our child for a couple of hours in the evening. Either way, it wouldn't be more than 5 hours a day on Monday to Friday and we are also open to more hours on some days so that you can have fewer hours on other days.
We are flexible, and still want you to be able to explore and travel. But we do need some predictability, so we could just discuss the schedule together if you are the right fit! During your time with our son, we would want you to spend it mostly outside exploring - at the beach, the park, playgrounds, etc. - he is very active and fun. :)
We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking, and who is happy being around toddlers. And ideally has watched children in the past and can provide references.Languages

You would stay in your own private bedroom with your own bathroom in our new and sunny 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment which has a pool and is a few blocks walking to the beach, gym, restaurants and cafes, grocery stores, and a big park. You can also take public transport and be in the heart of the city center of Malaga within 20-30 minutes. Our apartment has central AC and from part of our patio you can see the ocean. The furniture is new, cozy and comfortable since we are just moving in. We both work online so also have great WiFi.
What else ...
Our apartment is in a great location, walking distance to a beach, a gym, supermarkets, parks and a 20-30 minute public transportation ride to the historic center of Malaga. There are museums and music venues within walking distance from where you will be staying. We are also very close to the airport (maybe 5-10 minutes driving) which is also a big hub for travel if you want to check out other places by plane on the weekends, or rent a cheap car and explore other amazing destinations in Costa del Sol.

We have a really good internet connection and you'd have a private bedroom with a desk, chair, and lamp for work. One of our workawayers had a part-time desk job and worked when she wasn't helping us! (The other had a part-time job in town; so we are very flexible.)
