  • Description

Luc is a freelance social artist who is dedicated to providing underprivileged children with the therapeutic experience of creating art.

This unique experience comes in the form of them painting large Murals in the streets of their community. A team of artists work closely with the children to encourage and provide the children with materials. The murals are painted entirely by the children, with the intention to learn a new skill, express a specific topic and to brighten up the atmosphere.
No member of our team receive any financial gain, in fact, they donate a lot of their own money and time to make these projects posable.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Adventure and personal growth. From our own experience, we can tell you that this will be a journey of discovery and invaluable learning ground. Every day is different and offers new surprises, a lot of which will take place outside of your comfort zone.
Travel. If you want, you can grasp the opportunity to see a lot of the country (and beyond) as the project is very widespread and constantly growing.
The real world, South Africa. You will get to experience a range of colourful communities and environments that are otherwise not easily accessible to a foreigner.
Happy Days. You will get to spend time with the most beautiful, funny and heart-warming kids that will make you cry with laughter, together with a team that loves what they do. Every day.

If you have a CV that outlines your experience, that’s great, but not a pre-requisite. The real pre-requisite is STOKE and PASSION.
We look forward to welcoming you to South Africa!

We are primarily looking for individuals that are self-reliant, outgoing, resourceful and have good people skills.
We are also looking for people with formal art training, with an appreciation of modern and contemporary art. (please attach a link to your work or Instagram account)

This project embraces the value of children's art, self-empowerment and sustainability. It is also a study on how art can positively affect people.

We all love being involved in this project as much as possible. However, since we need to make a living we cannot always find the time to be as hands-on as we'd like to be. We are basically looking for likeminded individuals that can take on some of the responsibilities.

These responsibilities will mostly involve workshopping with the most epic kids and getting paint all over yourself.
The project has become an attraction site for visitors to South Africa. So helping the community learn and benefit from tourism will be great. Mural workshops will probably be the funniest thing you will ever do and like us, fundraising to be able to do them will be a must.

We recommend you come for the full three months and even extend. But if you have other responsibilities then a month will be just enough for you to make a much-appreciated impact.

As we live and work in a guest house/backpackers, you will be expected to lend a helping hand. for example, check-in guests if we are not around and to be polite and socialize with guests. As well as taking guests to visit the project and helping them to get acquainted with the locals.
Our main focus is a passion for the project. We very much want you to love what you do as much as we do.
It is important that you are a positive, confident and independent individual that is open-minded and loves kids. A sense of humour will also go a long way.
