Hey! I’m a workawayer writing this on the behalf of Jehane, the creator of the project. She’s an 87 year old woman who has a lot of life to live, and a lot of stories to tell. The project is a place of simple living and learning. It’s located an hour outside of Vegas near Tecopa, CA. It sits outside Death Valley, so hot days and starry nights await you. Do you like the idea of wandering through the open desert, finding a half broken down vehicle, scavenging it for parts, and creating a masterpiece? This is where you need to be.
The work done here mostly involves building using raw earth and found items, with some parts brought in. Primarily, we build Earth Bag Domes. They’re an ecologically sound and innovative form of architecture, focused on low cost and low impact. There’s also a lot of building walls using bottles and earth. We have a small hydroponic set up using well water. In general, there’s ample diverse opportunities to learn other crafts from people here involving a lot of different things. The people here are as unique and free as the experience of building here. Still, we expect 4-5 hours daily of work, 5 days a week, and for individuals to respect the space. We ask that people who come clean up after themselves, and be mindful of the shared space and property.
We are located near Tecopa, CA. Tecopa is a unique place with a lot to offer to people interested in off grid living, homesteading, intentional community, art, and unique ideas. There’s many other projects in the area by like minded individuals. It’s a super wild place and a true creative breeding ground.
We make trips to the store every week, and go to a local hot spring a few times a week. You’re welcome to do whatever you want in your free time. There’s a lot of wild earth to explore here, and space to create whatever you would like. There’s no WiFi, but data does work well on some carriers.
We are open to long term stays and have some ambition to build an intentional community. We ask that individuals come for at least a month, but are flexible about length of time depending on circumstances. We can pick you up from Vegas if you arrive by plane. We also ask that you respect applicable quarantine policies in your area before coming.

“If you are usually an urban person, or live in a neighbourhood area, you will be easily overwhelmed by the space and silence. It is a good opportunity to get friendly with oneself! and to feel the closeness of our earth! And living close to critters, and whatever physical and non physical! Could sense?!“ - Jehane
