As it has been happening more and more lately that people with whom we have arranged a working experience simply do not write back and do not appear, we will give a negative rating for this in future.
We expect you to cancel if your plans change and to think carefully beforehand if this platform really offers what you expect.
It is very stressful and frustrating to make agreements that are then not kept and that without cancelling.

We are a young family with 4 children (born in the years 2010, 2011 in 2014 and in 2016). Our Names are Michael (*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️1982) and Angela (*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️1986) We live at the countryside within the Black Forest. As you can see on the pictures our next neighbour is more than 200m away.
We are hobby farmers with a small vegetable garden, a little piece of forest and some animals ( cats, horses, rabbits and ducks). We try to produce some of our food by ourselves (vegetables and fruits) and try to buy only biological foodstuff. We eat self-made bread. We are heating with wood which we take mainly from our forest.
Our children are going to kindergarden and school every morning. To school they go using the schoolbus and to kindergarden they are brought by their mom Angela. She ist working part-time and does most of the work with the animals and in the garden and houskeeping. She also does Horse assisted coaching at our place. Michael has a full time job and does mainly forest work and maintance and repair work at home.
Our place is about 1,5 hours by car away from the frensh and swiss border as well as from the lake constance and the Europapark Rust. Because of its rural location the next regular bus station lies within foodwalk distance of about 25min and the next train station can be reached by car in 25 minutes. To the center of the town where you can buy everyday commodities it's approx. 4 km. You are free to use our bikes if you want.
Tourists came to our region because of the great hiking and skiing opportunities. As well as for biking in the mountain and because of some historical or geological very interesting places.
We like workaway because it's a great opportunity for us to get a little help for the big amount of work we have to do. But it's also a great chance to get to know new people, different opportunities and cultures.

We live in the countryside of the Black Forest so you would learn about this region and we can teach you anything we know about the animals we have. Our place is a perfect start for hiking or biking tours or skiing in the winter. We also could teach you common meals of south-western Germany.
You will experience our lifestyle, which means trying to question the common consumer behavior. Get back to nature, but also wanna benefit of technological progress. Get to know the value of water and heat (we have our own source and sewage plant and heat with wood).

Help
August 2023:
At the moment we would ask for help with making firewood, harvesting potatoes and some building projects, like solar panel installation.
Naturally we do have some tasks to do every day, which is for example: Take care of animals, controlling and repairing the fence, removing snow (in winter), housekeeping and gardening (not in winter), take care of our children during the time Angela is doing pedagogical group work with horses and maybe also at other times. So we would like to ask for help at these daily jobs.
Additional, but not daily tasks to do where we also be pleased about help are for example: haymaking (in summer), making (fire)wood, snow clearing (in Winter) holding free of a small stream course, ...
We also have additional projects, which are for example: increasing our pond, renovation of our house, ... and many other ideas but we are also open for your ideas.
If you have special skills or special requests we try to consider this and find proper work. For example a motor mechanic could take care of our tractor or car or horse buggy. Such special jobs or skills would be a great benefit for us.
We expect you to do the work self-contained after we teached you what to do and some work we will do together.

Accommodation
You will have your own room with a standard bed, a desk and reading chair. An additional mattress is below the bed. So the room can be used by up to 2 people. You will get bed linen and towels. Because the room is small it could be too cramped for two or even more if they are not a couple.
Also our office area is directly in the guest room, which means that we have to pass through the guest room every now and then to get to our office area.
The guestroom is within our home so you will be part of the family during your stay. You can access our home during your stay whenever you want. You can use the bathroom, kitchen and living room together with us. We would like you to eat together with us. We would love you to cook a speciality of your country or region if you like. We eat less meat - most of the week we eat vegetarian. We drink less alcohol and normaly do not have beer in the house.
And you will have access to our WiFi and can use our bike, If you Like.
You don't need to share the room with other persons you don't know.
We do not smoke and we do expect, that you also don't smoke inside the house and if you smoke outside remove your waste.
What else ...
In your free time you can visit the Black Forest clock museum which is located in furtwangen. Also the spring of the Donau. There is a bus stop in 20-30 minutes walking distance. And the next train station is in Triberg (approx. 25 minutes by car). There also is a beautiful waterfall. The next big city is Freiburg and the lake constance is only approx 1,5 hours away by car - as well as the best amusement park in Europe: The Europapark. And Last but not least: hiking in the black forest is really recommendable.

I would just like to say: thank you, Angie & Michael very much for hosting me. Normally we should have come together with my girlfriend Fanny, but she broke her hand one day before leaving to the Black Forest. Fortunately, I speak German, so it was easy to travel through Freiburg.
