    Description

    We are a couple who live in a small rural village, in the deep Alentejo, in the south of Portugal, 20 minutes from the border with Andalusia and Extremadura (Spain).
    Gra is Italian and Zeze is Portuguese.
    We live in an old house, fully restored, with traditional rammed earth architecture.
    We are passionate about animals, plants and fruit trees.
    We live in a simple way of life in the greatest possible harmony with nature and the surrounding environment and the community.
    We like art, cooking, meeting people and sharing the good things in life, in a constant learning.
    We like to have people around and our friends know that we are always willing to share the tasks of taking care of the animals (especially poultry) and creating new spaces (with the best conditions) for our four- and two-legged friends.
    We want to find people available to help us bring to life the projects of creating a lake, building new coops and improving the garden spaces.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural sharing and learning are very important to us and are part of our life journey.
    We want to share our local culture and make you discover our region: the fauna, the flora, the customs and traditions, the festivals and people.
    We love to cook, especially the genuine Portuguese and Sicilian/Italian.
    We speak Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, English and French.
    We live 20 minutes from the border with Spain, 20 minutes from Alqueva Lake and 1 km from the Ardila River.
    The nearest town is Moura, which is 13 km away.

  • Help

    Help

    We are looking for help to:
    - take care of our animals (chickens of various breeds, ducks, geese, guinea pigs, dogs, cats and hedgehogs);
    - create an artificial lake so that it can serve as a habitat for our ducks and aquatic plants;
    - create new chicken coops so that our chickens have all the conditions of safety and animal welfare;
    - implement an irrigation system for the cultivation of fruit trees;
    - create a garden of aromatic herbs, shrubs and citrus;
    - painting the set of houses using ancestral techniques of lime use;

    We would like to have the support of creative, open-minded, dedicated people with a taste for constant learning.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    We live in a territory with an immense historical and cultural tradition. Stunning landscapes of olive trees, cork oak forests and rivers, inserted in a European steppe bird protection area. A world to discover for those who like to walk, bike, photograph.
    The local community is very rich in festive traditions, polyphonic singing, with a rich gastronomy: all the reasons are a good excuse to gather family, neighbours and friends at the table, to celebrate.
    We also have a built historical heritage that attests to a human occupation with more than 4000 years of history.
