  • Description

I live in the Lake District 3 m from the small town of Kendal. We are a bus journey from stunning hill walks, incredible mountains views & lakes. As a Community Artist, I work on Arts projects in the areas of Celebration, Education & Well Being. I work at Festivals and create Carnival Structures in the summer for our local Carnival. I work in local Schools & colleges. In my Well Being work takes me into groups & projects for people who may be affected by Cancer, Alzheimers, Mental Health issues, Anxiety, & Homelessness. As I work with groups of vulnerable people we are not a suitable workaway for anyone learning English Language. A good level of English is required as is self motivation, initiative & life experience. We prefer vegan & vegetarian cooking options & love to do yoga. I’m often too busy to enjoy these things as much as I’d like to. I always work towards a positive exchange experience with everyone so that we can both enjoy learning from one another. I find this more achievable when there is a cultural exchange with volunteers from outside of the U.K. We work hard, volunteers generally find it enjoyable and rewarding, we have a flexible timetable depending on projects and demands. We welcome genuine workaways, we are not a stepping stone for you to move to the Lake District or to Britain from another Country. We can’t accommodate dogs as we’re surrounded by sheep and have 3 cats who live happily here. There is always a requirement for cooking and looking after the home & cats if that’s what you love to do.
