    Description

I have had a lifetime experience with horses and have downsized to just 4, with one mare due to foal. I have a very picturesque 16 acres, 12 effective and 4 fenced established native with a stream . My aim is to become self sufficient so currently I am establishing fruit trees and a vegie garden, spray free. I have a wood heated spa , plenty of wood and looking at improving its efficiency. The living area is in need of landscaping. With plenty of wood I plan to stock pile for winter. Work is varied depending on the interest and skills of the person.
I am 20 minutes north of Kerikeri . There are many beautiful beaches close to here. A car is preferable but not essential. I have only had one Workaway who stayed 3 months.

I like the Workaway to join in with all activities and the many visitors I get . Including trips away. With Cape Reinga a half a day away and many significant Maori and European historical sites there is much this area has to offer, including sitting on the brach eating fish and chips out of paper if we are unsuccessful in catching our own fish.

Skills in any area will be appreciated but it is attitude and work ethic that is more important. The Workaway can chose an area of skill that they are confident in, or what they want to learn about.

My horses are young and not suitable for inexperienced people. I am happy to show basics of handling and horse care if the Workaway is interested.

    Accommodation

Eating is what I eat , and any other visitors. Mostly homegrown vegies, sustainably produced meat, home kill when possible. I like Workaway people to share some of their national dishes where possible. Accommodation is either in the B n B unit where there is a separate ensuite or in a bedroom close to the main living area with a bathroom shared with one other.

Time off is managed according to the helpers needs. If they have their own transport they can take a few days off to explore , or take afternoons to go to the local beaches or to visit the many historical sites in the neighbourhood,. No car i am happy to take them to get a bus for tours, or take them to a place for local exploring and meet them on completion. This changes according to the individual's choices
