Hi viewers, Welcome.
My beautiful village of Castara resting on the north coast of Tobago where the sun rises in through the mountains and sets upon our beautiful beaches at night.
We run apartments on one of Castara's beaches, and a restaurant & bar on the other beach - both of which are very popular with tourists, and locals.

Our apartment hotel is right on the beach, we have 8 apartments. We need help with some different kind of task at our place, depending on what season you arrive.

Easy, outgoing and relaxed people will find our place most comfortable and pleasurable. We like our volunteers to be open-minded and curious about the Caribbean lifestyle and culture. To have the experience of how island life is like (usually very different from western lifestyle) We like our helpers to stay for at least 3 weeks. You will work with us in the family, some locals and foreign workers. We all work together and help out where ever it is needed. You will also have time off to enjoy our beaches and go on island and boat tours! We are more than happy to show you around.

staying with us weather it be two weeks a month or a year this experience is like no other the culture here is far more different that what you may hear the way we live, our traditions an what makes us a people an a village is something that you will always have with you. the nature of life and its people are like a Jem that you will want to keep with you as a secret. You can learn how to make bread use a dirt oven (clay oven) different name use to call something you may know by a different name, appreciate our culture for what it is an the reasons behind some of them.

We are looking for people for 3 shifts a day from 8 am to 10 pm, sometimes even later depends on the guests' check-in time. workawayers will be available during office time to help guests with their requests, check-in and check-out, and the main thing will be housekeeping, so having experience in this field is defenitely a plus.

We are more than happy to provide shared accommodation with air condition or fan and fully equipped kitchenette. We provide lunch daily. We will take you to grocery shop to let you buy food cause we don't provide breakfast and we don't provide dinner on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays.As you will be given two days off lunch and dinner will not be provided on these days.
What else ...
This is a small village - everyone here knows everyone, we are a fishing village but our primary income is tourism. There is a great snorkeling site not too far out from the shore - there is also swimming with the dolphins and a beautifully hidden waterfall. There is also our fish market where you can purchase fresh fish on the spot.
There are a lot of great restaurants & bars in the village of all different tastes and style. Tobago is a very beautiful place and so are the people here there is a lot to see or if you wish just hang out and chill and enjoy the views.

1) The life in Tobago and… read more Castara.
I has been in Tobago during 3 months and I have leaned many things about this Island. The true soul in Tobago is involved in a context of relax and happiness. Many people did tell me that Tobago is so different that its brother island Trinidad because in Tobago, there are more peaceful and the vibe is more safety.
The Volunteer is in a little village called Castara. It is one of the most popular place for the touristic people and all the landscape is full with forest and nature. The life in Castara is awesome because here the time do not exist; the vibe is only about relax and enjoy the sea. All the Thursday there are a massive bonfire party and the Wednesday there are a drums party.

You can find little stores to buy food and the normal thing to use, the biggest store is near to the big beach, and here you can buy beers, fruit, and all the thing to cook your food.

Castara has two big beaches. The hotel is super close to the small beach. This beach is incredible, you can do a wonderful snorkel and you can enjoy of thousands of different fishes. The sunset in this beach is one of the most beautiful sunset that I have seen in all my life.
The transportation between Castara and Scarborough Is very easy, you can take a bus all the days and the entire trip is one hour. Scarborough for me is not the best place in the island, but if you want to explore you need to go to the library.

2) The work.
The best part of the volunteer because I loved my activity. The Hotel has many activities to cleaner, but I was working in the Restaurant. I was helping with all the activities except cooking. I was helping like waiter, and in some occasions, I played music with my ukulele. The work was 5 hours in 5 days in the week. Really I did enjoy my work because I could practice a lot my English there, and all the people that work in the restaurant is lovely people. Really thanks for all the conversations and all the work together, I miss this. If you read this Cristal and Debie, I send you a big kiss and hug, you are awesome people.
3) The room to sleep.
This was one of the best thing in the volunteer. I had one beautiful apartment with the entire necessary thing to live like a king. (With the beach in front)
4) The food.
The best food in the entire island. In the restaurant, I could eat the most delicious food. Thanks for all. I did love the curry fish and the goat.
In conclusion, this volunteer has been one of the most beautiful experience for me.
