Macy is an incredible person for her tender years. Intelligent, ambitious and very kind and supportive. Takes full initiative and goes ahead to help without the need to ask, and does extra along the way! Trying to persuade this girl to take time off was hard, but she seemed to enjoy the experience and immersed herself completely in our days and outings. Cannot recommend her highly enough. … read more active so come with some creative games and he’ll love you forever. Maghnus is a great babe. He’s not a fussy eater and he’s loves riding around in nature in a buggy or a car. The living area is remote but it’s in a national park so go for the mountain bike ride or hike or run. Seriously take the time to be in the nature and fully appreciate it. Ali works all around the area so you can sometimes go with her and explore neighboring villages while she works if weather and time permits. Ali and Donnie are great about recommending some nice spots and sharing the culture and their history of the place. You can learn a lot from both. They do really try to take care of you.
Your number one job is child care with mainly maghnus everything else is extra and that’s totally up to you, it helps Ali out to keep Maghnus happy and active. Rafe goes to primary school so a good portion of the week he’s out at activities or at school. This place is a writers dream. You follow the road running parallel to the river for eight miles to the lodge, with mountains either side. Perfect for star gazing. … read more hospital for a day and a half) and Jess stepped in to help quickly and without question. We have been lucky to have had her with us and I would recommend her to anyone. Jess is friendly, very personable and fun to have around. While there have been a few mix-ups due to the language differences, these have been very minor and have not detracted from our experience. Jess's English is good but at times I may talk too fast for her, so the problem was more with me being in a hurry! This lady will be a very helpful asset to anyone.

While Ali's feedback on us was very explicit on the full routine morning to night, this was not all expected of her and it was made clear she was not required to do long hours but she willingly particiapted in helping after dinner and on some days off. A great first workaway experience for us...

Most days are spent with Ali and baby Magnus, driving to her work locations/ meetings, and making sure the baby is taken care of during that time. Magnus is mostly a very calm and content little guy! We went on a many outdoor walks in parks and beautiful forests while his mum worked.
Rafe is at nursery weekdays and has different sports daily- so evenings were spent bringing him to his activities, getting home to help cook, watch the boys, get everyone fed, clean the kitchen, and help get them in bed: baths if necessary, brushing their teeth, changing, etc.
Rafe is very energetic and social! He can be quite demanding of Ali and gets upset when told not to do something. He is very playful and is learning to share with his baby brother.
Their home is out in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, down a bumpy dirt road, surrounded by nature. You have a nice private room and set of drawers downstairs. *Recommend bringing a pair of earplugs as the floorboards above head are quite creaky *
It is difficult for Ali, with all of the juggling she’s doing of childcare, working and daily driving, to keep the house tidy and organized. I only had time to tackle the kitchen and help sort some clothes/items to give away while I was there! She needs as much help as she can get!
They both drive to town daily, where there are regular trains / busses, so transportation is easy for weekends off to plan trips. They also generously offer their bikes if you want to cycle around the area. Recommend visiting Loch an T'seilich, just 2 miles nearby!

… read more pleasure to have him in my charge, which has allowed me to walk and get to know several locations as well as the natural environment. Rafe is 5 years old and full of energy and loves to play sports.
If you are interested in improving your English, you are an empathetic person and you are good at taking care of children, I definitely recommend spending time with this family. If I have the opportunity I plan to repeat with them.
I can only thank Ali and Donie for how kind they have been to me, all the places they have shown me, and for being able to enjoy that wonderful natural environment and share laughter with the little ones. I haven't had any dull moments.
