    This is a family project.
It is a charming place located in Horquetas,
a rural area known for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.
The place is ideal for those looking to disconnect from their routine and
connect with nature, living with all the modern comforts surrounded by the morning sounds of howler monkeys some days and other times the sound of hundreds of monkeys welcoming the sunrise.

Horquetas is a picturesque rural community in the province of Heredia, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and tropical forests. We are neighbors to Braulio Carrillo National Park.
A rich biodiversity is very close to San José, an ideal place for hiking, mountain biking, or simply a rural area to escape the routine of the city or crowded tourist spots.

    Living Nature:

Large green areas with gardens and fruit trees: orange, mandarin, mango, guava, lemon, sunflower seeds (coconut), grapes, and more. We have a tilapia farm and are planning to build a duck pond. This is an area home to secondary and primary forests in the mountains, which are home to a great diversity of flora and fauna.
The presence of rivers, waterfalls, and nearby streams is ideal for getting away from the routine.

My name is Jimmy (project manager), and I live and work on the project in Horquetas Sarapiquí.
I work with my uncle Miguel on his project.
I'm a very active builder, I'm very talkative, I love dogs, and crafts. I've worked on many projects with volunteers in different locations in Costa Rica, so I have a lot of experience hosting volunteers. I speak a little English and love meeting new people and sharing stories.
I'm a builder who loves permaculture, self-sustaining construction, exotic plants, mountains, and nature. I'm a bit off the grid; my life has been day-to-day living for the past 16 years.

This is a family project that has been formed with the help of many friends, family, and volunteers for almost 30 years. My uncles, Lorena Herrera and Miguel Zamora, started this project in 1996.
Everything that exists today was built during weekends and free time with the help of many people.

Now, in this new phase, we hope to count on the help of volunteers to continue sharing, creating, and maintaining this project. Quinta Amistad is a place to spend time with family and make new friends.

There are many types of travelers in volunteering. We want to welcome people interested in sharing their experience in a rural Costa Rican town with people who want to practice our language, enjoy our culture, and are truly interested in experiencing what it's like to volunteer, support, help, and enjoy a fair exchange.
Pura vida, the good vibes to create new bonds, new friends.
