[UPDATE] - Due to the current complications we face as a result of the Covid-19 situation, we are unable to accept volunteers. We wait eagerly for the day we can overcome this challenge and start welcoming volunteers again. Untill then. take care and be safe. Hugs!
My name is Mónica and I have created an educational alternative focused on transmitting the importance of values and environmental awareness. We get to do this through experiences of linguistic immersion in different stunning locations in Cantabria (Spain).
We are a small but hard working group of people with a common goal that strongly believe in the need for a change. This is our second year and we are very excited to have more people joining the team so, if you fit in the description, be ready to come to Spain!

You would enjoy free accommodation and 2 meals a day in a family home in Northen Spain, in a quiet neighbourhood in the suburbs of Santander (Cantabria) called Monte. It is well connected to the city and about 16 minutes walk from the nearest beach, La Maruca. A beach where you can surf and is in the route Cabo Mayor-Costa Quebrada, that starts in Santander's Lighthouse and ends at Liencres Natural Park.
If the stay is to participate at our Immersions (dates above) it could be in similar locations (Youth Hostels) by the area. During the summer we set up a camping for the months of July and August in Socabarga - Villaescusa.
We are looking for people of various profiles that believe in our project of Environmental Awareness for children. They need to be able to speak fluent English as we work in English Immersion with the children. When the children are not involved (creation of materials, free time with other monitors) we are more than happy for you to practice your Spanish and get immersed in our beautiful culture!
> At the Immersions:
- Co-monitor role (there are paid monitors that have the leading role and are responsible for the children)
- Children animation
- Accompanying at workshops/activities
- Accompanying at the kitchen cooking with children (Master-Chef)
- Baby sitting / child care
- Camp duties
>Parallel work that might be during the immersions but could be also in other dates:
- Website improvements
- Talented videographers / video editors / photographers
- Social media busters
- Youtubers ;D
> Creation of Materials:
- Chicken Coop
- Hydroponic systems
- Tent repairs
- Compost bins
- Educational activities
- Portable garden
We are looking for responsible, dynamic and enthusiastic people that are interested in helping with children and eager to learn. Teamwork skills are essential.
We work in English Immersion so this is not a great opportunity to learn and practice Spanish.
Workawayers suitable to join us will preferably have a background in Teaching, Psychology or Environmental Science/Education related studies to help out in our Immersions or creating sustainable materials to be used in School Workshops and/or at Camping Days.
We look for people that share our values, are nature lovers, open minded, optimistic and resourceful.
The workaway experience is an open door to work with us. After, volunteers are entitled to apply for a job position (European passports or Working Visa holders) to join our Camps and/or Workshops.
We have flexible dates that include accommodation and 2 meals/day in exchange for voluntary help on the project (max 5h/day). Beautiful family home in a quiet neighbourhood in the suburbs of Santander (Cantabria) called Montes, or in other worker's place in the city.
It's also possible to participate at our Immersions where it would be full board (3 meals and 2 snacks) plus accommodation with the children and other monitors (further details and dates below).
Types of meals may include vegetarian and vegan profiles.
Timetables may be flexible and adaptable in case of need (studies or other reasons).
December 14th-15th (single night weekend “Christmas style”)
January 31st to February 2nd
February Break Immersion 24th-28th
June 19th-21st (Last one – Camping in the Summercamp place)

For the Immersion weekends you would be expected to arrive on Friday, work until Sunday and then you can stay and enjoy around until Wednesday morning.
Check out the different amazing things around us like the Parque Natural de Liencres or Peña Cabarga.
