    Description

Hi my name is Michelle and am half Austrlalian half German. I live on the beautiful East Coast of Tasmania on a lovely 2 acre property only 5 mins from the township of St Helens. I have one 8 year child, 1 rabbit and 5 chickens. We love to eat healthy, grow our own food and are learning the principles of permaculture. We have lots of fruit trees, 2 veggie patches and a dam. We love surfing, nature, rollerblading, gardening, cooking, crafts and music. Our place is only 3 km from the town centre but it feels like your in the country! We are 12 mins drive from one beach, and about 15 mins away from the other beaches. There are some great surfing spots in the area, and some of the worlds best mountain bike trails here too! Other things to do in the area, are bushwalking/ hiking, boating and fishing. Tasmanina is renouned for it's fine food and delicious produce. There are plenty of local suppliers in the area supplying meat, cheese, wine and bread. Some of the famous Tassie sights are within an hours drive from where we live.

We have a couple of surfboards and body boards and would love to take you surfing. We would happily take you to some of the local tourist sights such as the pub in the paddock, and the local dairy to try some of their delicious cheddar and milk products.

As we are new to permaculture and have basic gardening skills, we would like help with our veggie garden and maintaining the property within the principles of permaculture. As we would like to offer accommodation on a regular basis to travellers we need to set up a camp bathroom with an shower and composting toilet. We also have a shed that we would like to turn in to a granny flat. So we would love to accommodate someone with great building skills, and someone who is great in the garden! It is also important that you love children and animals!

    What else ...

On your time off there are so many sights to see! You can go to wineglass bay and go hiking, explore the beautful beaches of the East Coast such as Binalong Bay, go hiking and see many of the waterfalls in the forests, there are mountain bike trails here in our town & there's another one an hour away. You can hire bikes if you don't have one and get dropped at the top of the trails via a shuttle bus.
We have a couple of very small wineries here in our neighbourhood, and there are a couple of renouwned wineries within an hours drive. A few hours down the coast you can take the ferry to Maria Island for a daytrip to see the wildlife, hire a bike and ride around to see the historic attractions, you can even spend the night there in historic old buldings. There is a wildlife park about an hour south of here, where you can walk around and admire and feed native australian animals.
We ask that you are respectful of our home, and belongings as we will treat you with respect too.
