  • Description

We are a family of four. We live 10 km from Alta city, nearby the famous Alta salmon river. Our house is in the woods close to some small mountains and lakes. There is good hiking, x-country skiing and mountain biking in the area. Johnny is a chef, he works in the restaurant at our lodge. Trine is a dog musher and takes care of her dogdriving business at home. We have 65 dogs in total. We also have many chickens one cat and a small garden.

In the summer we need help in the dog yard and our B&B. We have puppies in the summer, that we need to take on a walk every day. The dogs need food and we have to clean our B&B rooms.
The B&B has two rooms, and we have a cabin with 4 rooms and in the winter we have a Fishing lodge with 10 rooms. We serve breakfast and dinner to our guests. In the summer we always have lots of projects in the garden, getting fire wood, building and fixing things. We get buses in the summer with guests that eat and visit the dog yard. In summer we have 24 hours of day lights and the temperature can be between 6 and 30 degrees.

In the winter we have our busy tourist season, we spend months in the snow and get very short hours of daylight. It can be tough as temperatures can get as low as 25 below zero. In the winter we need to work well as a team and each person needs to play their part. It is hard work but we do it together. We need some help in the dog yard and some help with hospitality and servicing our guest rooms, and preparing for when we host business meetings and buses of guests come to visit the dog yard.

We would like to have Workawayers who really care about the jobs they do with a keen eye to notice what needs to be done and attention to detail. The tasks will range from shoveling snow, walking the young dogs, making beds, cleaning rooms, serving breakfast and talking with guests.

We can loan you working clothes and cold weather gear for outdoors and we will happily teach you all the skills you will need.
