Hi, I am Isabella. My husband Robert and I live in a small village close to the border of Hungary and Slovenia. I am retired and right now trying to improve our garden and a little guesthouse. We would like to invite people to share our life and everyday duties for a while.
Help in the house
Our first language is German (Austrian), so - if you like to get in touch with the Austrians’ way of speaking German - welcome! If you want to improve your basic German language skills, give it a chance although it might turn out hard to understand Austrian German sometimes. Keep trying though! We can offer to show you how to make felt or you may experience your skills in the ceramic workshop.
Help needed: in improving the garden and all kinds of things in and around the house. Work will follow the demands of the season. So this autumn it will mainly be preparing garden for winter, improving the chicken coop, repairing the garden fence and repainting some parts of the house.
Big room for yourself, bathroom/toilet shared with family.
My husband Robert and I are a retired couple, happy to host people with helping hands to share our life for a while. We live in a renovated farm house situated in a small village, in a lovely countryside at the Hungarian- Slovenian border. Our children are grown up and moved to other places.
For those of you who would like to stay with us it is important that you don’t mind staying in a quiet place with little extraordinary activities going on. It’s a lovely spot for those who like to discover the beauty and small treasures of new neighborhoods (supported by us).
The next train station is 3 km away, easy to walk there or getting a lift if you want to visit Graz - nearest big city, one hour by train. Little supermarket, coffee shop, pub - just few minutes’ walk from our house. There is a bike available, so you can explore the neighborhood yourself during your time off, but also we will show you around, if you like. As mentioned before The nearest big city (by train) is Graz, but there are also smaller towns close by as well as to Vienna and to cities in Hungary (Budapest is a 4 hours train ride) from here.
Our daily life is filled with a variety of tasks, quite easygoing and organized according to weather conditions and workshop duties. The help we ask from workawayers will also depend on your skills and interests.
We have chicken that provide us with eggs, ducks to keep slugs in limited numbers and honey bees. Soon there will be 2 kittens joining our family life as our old cat passed away in summer. As a Workawayer you will be provided with breakfast and share our daily meals. You are also invited to help with preparing meals. Although we are omnivores ourselves, meat is not prioritized on our daily menu. We try to prepare fresh, healthy food and also will respect food intolerances.
As for both sides it takes time to get to know each other, we would like to welcome open minded, respectful people who want to share our life for one or two weeks or - if for both sides sharing our lifes works well and depending on amount of work - longer stays might be appreciated.
